Eva Ibbotson has been one of my very favorite story tellers! This one is mostly set in England and a castle in Austria! There are great characters and fun and more than one pair of star crossed lovers. The reader is very good at the narrative of the book but her accents for half of the characters is not good and sometimes hard to even follow. But nevertheless it is a great story.

Great story and lots of great characters!

This narrator was great, except for the mispronunciation of German words. It took some time for me to realize what the words were. Emphasis on the wrong syllable and mixing up ie and ei were the primary problems. The characterizations were wonderful, though, and the story was charming.

Strong Performance with a Flaw

The sub-characters are way overdone in a painful sort of way…I found it unfortunate. the plot is fun and writing detailed in the authors usual way and enjoyable.

The reader makes it hard to listen

the reader has a pleasant voice when normal, but the squeaks, grates, shrieks .... just no.

delightful story spoiled by the reader
