The epic historical saga of the most powerful nation in the realms...

Cormyr has been ruled by the Obarskyr family since its inception one and a half millennia ago. Now its king, Azoun IV, lies on his deathbed, and the vultures are circling, hoping to usurp the throne for their own. Against this crisis of state, the history of the Forest Kingdom unfolds, relating the previously untold story of a nation, its rulers, and its wizards.

Cormyr: A Novel is the epic historical saga of the most powerful nation in the Forgotten Realms fantasy world, as told by the world's co-creators.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of J. P. Linton?

Anyone. Absolutely anyone. Mr. Linton sounds like he's reading the dullest of textbooks, emotionless to the point where I returned the novel after listening less than 30 minutes.

Any additional comments?

As I stated above, I returned this book. I'm in the middle of reading a borrowed physical copy, and wanted the audiobook for my own library. How every disappointing for my first Audible book. :(

Love this novel, hate the narrator.

I enjoyed the history of Comyr, the kings, and everything about this. This provided a lot of background for some of the characters I enjoy.

This is an old tale for those familiar with realmslore. I tried a story I knew as my first Audible...
I already liked the story
I already liked the authors
I love fantasy/sci-fi so,
listenening while jammed in my daily commute was like a pressure relief valve and J.P. Linton makes the characters memorable, I like his reading style, perfect for a classic tale of kings, mages, dragons and kingdom shaking intrigue.

Linton rocks

The changing in years was a bit confusing at first, but it was tied up nicely through toward the end. The jumps in time gave an excellent understanding of why Cormyr was unique and long lasting. It also helped me understand where some of the names in the kingdom got their roots. Such as the “Purple Dragon”. As entertaining to listen to as the Elminster Series, in its own way.

Books written of this kingdom are more meaningful now

I read this novel years ago. I remember enjoying it. Listening to the audio book almost killed me. The story absolutely drags. Felt like it took me weeks to finish this. The narrator is not good for this genre. He makes this so much worse than i remember. I have listened to multiple other ed greenwood books and while i think they can get slow at times, there is still some humor and a good narration. Not so for this guy or this book.

Brutal narrator
