One of the country's leading researchers updates his revolutionary approach to solving - and preventing - children's sleep problems. Here Dr. Marc Weissbluth, a distinguished pediatrician and father of four, offers his groundbreaking program to ensure the best sleep for your child. In Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, he explains with authority and reassurance his step-by-step regime for instituting beneficial habits within the framework of your child's natural sleep cycles. This valuable sourcebook contains brand new research that:

  • Pinpoints the way daytime sleep differs from night sleep and why both are important to your child
  • Helps you cope with and stop the crybaby syndrome, nightmares, bedwetting, and more
  • Analyzes ways to get your baby to fall asleep according to his internal clock - naturally
  • Reveals the common mistakes parents make to get their children to sleep - including the inclination to rock and feed
  • Explores the different sleep cycle needs for different temperaments - from quiet babies to hyperactive toddlers
  • Emphasizes the significance of a nap schedule

Rest is vital to your child's health growth and development. Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child outlines proven strategies that ensure good, healthy sleep for every age - including teenagers with their unique sleep problems.

I have two children who sleep beautifully due to this program. It was a lifesaver when my first born was 2 mo old. I was exhausted and knew I needed a plan. I was nervous when my second child came along that I wouldn't have the same outcome with her because my son had done so well. She did better than he did because I was familiar with the program. Now, I am starting with my third, and am actually excited to get her on the program! Lifesaver for parent who like to sleep!

Excellent method & it works!

this book helped me understand the importance of scheduling sleep and naps and learning how to recognize sleep cues in my little one.
the narrator was clear and easy to understand and follow. the story seemed repetitive but I think that's to get the point across /empathize the importance. my little one is sleeping through the night now at 5.5 months and naps twice a day . getting the sitter to follow suit is a challenge still.

helpful!

I got this book during the desperation of the 4 month sleep regression... It's so well researched and helpful! I wish we would've listened to it before our baby came... Would've helped so much in the hard, first 6 weeks. Some other reviews say it's boring, but I find it fascinating. I'd rather listen to a sleep book based on science than on entertainment.

So so so helpful

This guy is pretty proud of himself. Reads like an old-fashioned propaganda piece by a WASPy doctor who knows best. Book summary: morning nap, afternoon nap, and full night sleep. There are much better books out there that won't waste your time.

maybe it was good in the 80's

Any additional comments?

Babies are people, they come with their own personalities and ways of being in the world... When I was exhausted with a newborn who didn't sleep, I spent my precious time reading this book which solved exactly zero of my problems. I figured it out on my own eventually when we found something that worked for both of us.

Disappointing
