One of the best narrations I've heard. I am really impressed with Ms. Cook's ability to modulate her voice to fit the story, characters and emotions, especially the male voices. I really enjoyed this story of Lady Jane and her warrior Lord Ronan. Their journey to HEA was a hard one and I love how the author had me glued to the story, not once had my attention waned. I laughed, I cried, I got mad along with the characters. Really liked Lady Jane, she is smart one with a snarky lovable attitude, even though I didn't always liked her behaviour, but learning more of her life, I understood why she behaved the way she did. Ronan is all warrior with a soft heart and he finally managed to break her defences? I was so happy for the ending, but I would have liked to see her kick some Divinity ass. Great choice in narrator Ms. Pillow, thank you for enjoyable hours of listening.

It was something different to close my eyes and just listen to the book being read to me, the tone and voice of the reader made for a enjoyable listen.

What did you like best about this story?

the way the Jane keeps trying to run away, causing her "Husband" to chase after her and having strong willed women

I didn't have a favourite scene since i really enjoyed all of it

Jane learning to love with her heart and not just fight with her fists

I really liked that Jane wasn't a simpering little miss. and that she had a backbone. the story had moments when i was like OMG she did not just do that, and it just made me like the story even more. I would diffidently recommend this book to others.

wholly different and complete characters and world

The second book in the Divinity Warriors series starts in the same place as the first: the women we will follow in this series awaken in a jail cell, far removed from the plane on which they lived, with no apparent way to escape. Here we get a glimpse at the others in the series, but this is Jayne’s story, and she has this take no prisoners attitude about being sure you understand who she is and where she comes from.

Michelle Pillow has built a world in this series that manages to carry the feel of medieval times, while the women that have suddenly appeared are from dimensions far more technologically advanced and far less primitive. Rough situations are no real hardship for Jayne, however, a fighter who is used to holding her own; she is ready to make her mark on whoever appears to tell her no.

Ronen is another character that we have met briefly in the first book: a warrior with a heart of gold, he doesn’t believe that he or his brother stands a chance at love. Believing himself cursed, he is utterly amazed when he is chosen, by a woman, at the breeding ceremony.

Jayne is the woman who saw what appealed and claimed it: a boxer by trade, her attitude is less than traditional on Staria, she isn’t the docile or submissive woman that Ronen expected. He is, however, nearly instantly smitten and wishes to do what he can to make her happy, even as this conflicts with the alpha nature that has been honed through years of battle.

Again, the two have several clever interactions as they are both working to gain supremacy in the relationship, it isn’t until they both learn to compromise and trust in each other that their relationship moves from sexy tension and mind-blowing sensual and sexual scenes to heartfelt sensuality that hits the reader like a punch to the gut, the emotional impact as they come to share their feelings and love for one another is palpable and presents several moments to smile.

As this is running on the same time-line as the first book, the progression of Jayne and Ronen’s relationship is different than, yet just as satisfying as Soren and Lilith’s. Two wholly different and complete characters, developed with quirks and traits that are real and unique. Again the narration in this story is provided most capably by Rebecca Cook, who manages to insert the emotional inflections and personalities of the characters into her voicing that doesn’t distract but enhances the story and makes for a great listen.

the basic story is similar to the other stories in the Divinity Warriors series (they all tie together) but Jayne reminds me a lot of Mede from the Dragon's Queen (book 9 in the Dragon Lord series)

Which character – as performed by Rebecca Cook – was your favorite?

Jayne by far, her tone and voice inflection really hit the mark and brought Jayne to life for me.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Great story! Inter-dimensional fighting champion Janye “the sweet” Hart grew up fighting to survive and she knows how to take care of herself; until she is shanghaied and wed to Lord Ronen of Staria. Staria is a dimension of mostly men that has been plagued by battle for generations and desperately needs wives and children to carry on the struggle. The Starians live similar to medieval times with castles and knights and with knowing so much war they do not believe in love, just honor and duty. To say the least Jayne rebels against the situation by running away and trying to find a way back to her dimension, despite an almost overwhelming attraction to Ronen (which both excites and confuses her as she tends to lose control with him…something she is not used to). Of course Ronen tracks her down and brings her back, they tear up the sheets and have several misunderstandings and hurt feelings but fall for each other in the end. If you liked any of the other Divinity series you are sure to like this one as well; if you haven’t read any others you’ll still like it if you appreciate hot alpha knight types and feisty females.

Rebecca Cook did an excellent job narrating there was enough difference in tone and inflection to different characters dimension and make the listener feel they were really listening to different people. Additionally, she had very pleasant voice that was enjoyable to listen to.

good story

This is book 2 in the series and is a stand alone book with a wonderful HEA. Jayne is a hoot and Ronan has a hard time keeping up. The narrator does an awesome job of bring each character to life. Looking forward the next book in the series. Happy Listening

I've been waiting for this book ever since I finished the first one. Although I liked it, I didn't love it. Despite that, it's chalk full of passion, humor, action, lust, and good stuff. I enjoyed the performance also but like the book I didn't love it. Overall I found it funny and can't wait for the next book.

Sexy and Exciting

What did you love best about Fighting Lady Jayne?

This is the second book in this series and the second I have read. This book started very strong. I particularly enjoyed the way it teases the other women in the Divinity Warrior series. Michelle M Pillow has a boundless imagination creating a complex, interesting and well developed character in Jayne with a rich backstory. She then drops her into a situation completely strange and unfamiliar ensuring a backdrop for evolutionary and revolutionary change. Michelle then provides Jayne with a warrior who has a gentle and docile energy lulling Jayne into a false sense of superiority. Jayne soon finds herself captivated by his passion and prowess along with being held captive by a society bent on transforming her. Jayne has been enhanced to enable her of fight off any foe but surprise is in store for her when she discovers the impossible happens and she is now supernaturally connected to engaging man.

Although this book can stand on its own, I am glad I read it in order and am looking forward to the others in this series.

Rebecca Cook is the perfect voice for Michelle M Pillow's books. There is a magical marriage of story and reader. I will definitely listen to more of this combo.

What made the experience of listening to Fighting Lady Jayne the most enjoyable?

Jayen is a strong willed independent woman who had to be that way to live in a hard hard world. The book was so much fun it great to see the writer and the reader Rebecca works so well together. Rebecca brought Jayne alive and I for one thought I could hear her funny little comments in her brain as she plan things out lol it was great.

What did you like best about this story?

Jayne getting the Knights to like her or maybe her husband taking her drunk back to the room or may the Queens lessons lol

Awesome Story - Old World meets Independent Woman

This was an exciting book following Jayne who is an independent, strong and fighting woman into a world that she wasn’t expecting. Jayne has seen many worlds all of various technologies and advancements. Now she’s been dropped into a civilization were the men are always at war and the woman stay home to be protected. Jayne has to struggle with the desire to return to her world and her growing affection for the man that is now her husband. She’s a fighter and doesn’t like taking lessons in being a lady.

I loved Jayne’s story. This book brought to life an entire new world with earth like animals and a society where there is no electricity and apparently no way back for Jayne. Rebecca Cook did an excellent job giving life to Jayne and the other characters. I will definitely be looking forward to more of this series. While this is the second book, it is a standalone book.
