Riveting, Captivating, Sexy

In my never ending search for a new book, I landed on these. I read some reviews all in all they looked promising and with Audible's excellent return policy I figured, hey no harm! So I started with Knight & Play which honestly is a strange name. That said, the book was good. Narration was great, I've heard this narrator before with no complaints.

So...the story...this is a more realistic story than many, aside from the billionaire (or whatever) sex toy king. There are real problems and real feelings, at least on Susie's part. This book covers just a couple of weeks so we really don't get to far into the meat of the story. That said, there are lots of sexy scenes and we see Susie come out of her shell and really grow and change.

Lucien is definitely a dominant lover and a tortured soul but this book doesn't delve far into the BDSM world. He owns several sex clubs but even with that the events there are mild in comparison to what they could be.

I like this book, I like the characters, of course I hate Dan but we are supposed to :)

All that said, I could have used a little more depth of character. I don't feel like I know Lucien much at all and really just have a surface view of Susie. I am going on to the next now...more on that one.

narrator ruined this for me

The story was ok but the narrator was so bad that I couldn't finish even the first book and since its the same narrator for the rest won't be listening to the rest

Slow

The narrator is the only problem I have with this audible. She narrates alright but it's slow, narrator and not the story. There where times I skipped over alot because it literally feltas though the story was dragging on slowly. Other than that I think the audible was just fine.

I loved this book but.....

Whew! What a steamy, sexy, erotic listen and I really liked the story but....the narrator sounded like the evil granny on SpongeBob Squarepants! If you can overlook this then you may enjoy. I haven't looked but I hope there is a different narrator for books 2 & 3 because I plan to continue on.

Lucien Hits Sophie

This story about Lucien & Sophie had potential to be extremely entertaining and occasionally humorous with 2 exceptions.

First, Lucien was mostly gentle and sexy except for the few incidents of sexual violence (hitting, bondage, domination). It made no sense that a normally good man would suddenly hurt Sophie, a woman he otherwise treated with warmth and consideration. The author tried to romanticize the physical abuse but hitting is always wrong.

Second, Lucien operated a chain of sex clubs in the UK, a business that exploits and degrades women (the men are never walking around mostly naked and being treated like pieces of meat). Lucien was still grieving the mother he lost to suicide at the age of 14, so he seemed inconsistent that he would have such a low opinion of her gender.

Sophie was sweet and appealing but had appallingly low self-esteem. She bounced from a cheating husband to a confirmed playboy who seemed more interested in sexual games than her personality. Sophie needed a backbone and the ability to set boundaries; she hopped on a private plane with a man she barely knew and had unprotected sex without a thought to her health. Where was her brain?
