The true story (on which the film Jeremiah Johnson was partially based) of John Johnson, who in 1847 found his wife and her unborn child had been killed by Crow braves. Out of this tragedy came one of the most gripping feuds - one man against a whole tribe - in American history.

good story narrator could have been better, tried to sound moutain, came off sounding mentally challenged, made Johnson sound like and oaf more than dangerous no matter what the material related. The story however was awesome

This is by far my most favorite book of all time. The humor and fierceness and strong character development and storytelling just brought this tale to life! this is a must read for almost anyone I'd say.

FANTASTIC BOOK

I'm a huge fan of Robert Redford's Jeremiah Johnson, but I have to admit that it's a distant second to this book. Understandably, you can't cram everything into a movie that you find in the book, but having an accurate account of the life of the legendary mountain man portrayed by the narrator is extremely satisfying to one who is hungry to learn as much as he can about Johnson. It was also interesting to see that DelQue was much of the book's support. There was much more to comment on, but I also want to give a huge note of gratitude to the narrator's performance...superb to say the least!.

The Movie had nothing on this

Narrator was a bit too slow. I listened at 1.25x speed which made it better but the sentences don’t always flow together that way. I would recommend reading the actual book, not necessarily listening to the audiobook.
