Dear Reader,

In February 2013 I gave a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. Standing a few feet from President Obama, I warned my fellow citizens of the dangers facing our country and called for a return to the principles that made America great.

Many Americans heard and responded, but our nation’s decline has continued. Today the danger is greater than ever before, and I have never shared a more urgent message than I do now.

Our growing debt and deteriorating morals have driven us far from the founders’ intent. We’ve made very little progress in basic education. Obamacare threatens our health, liberty, and financial future. Media elitism and political correctness are out of control.

Worst of all, we seem to have lost our ability to discuss important issues calmly and respectfully regardless of party affiliation or other differences. As a doctor rather than a politician, I care about what works, not whether someone has an (R) or a (D) after his or her name. We have to come together to solve our problems.

Knowing that the future of my grandchildren is in jeopardy because of reckless spending, godless government, and mean-spirited attempts to silence critics left me no choice but to write this book. I have endeavored to propose a road out of our decline, appealing to every American’s decency and common sense.

If each of us sits back and expects someone else to take action, it will soon be too late. But with your help, I firmly believe that America may once again be “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Sincerely,

Ben Carson

The Wall Street Journal

“Dr. Carson prescribes a dose of ‘tough love’ to cure the nation’s ills and restore our faith in government and ourselves.”

—Sam Donaldson

“A speech worthy of Booker T. Washington. . . . The beauty of Carson’s argument exceeds its simplicity.”

Would you consider the audio edition of One Nation to be better than the print version?

Anyone who has heard or read anything from Dr. Ben Carson will thoroughly enjoy this book. It says a lot for who this man is and shows how much he can offer this country if he were President.

I HIGHLY recommend this excellent book. About all I can add is that it would be even better is Dr. Carson read it himself.

What did you like best about this story?

He never hesitates to give both sides or an issue and explains why he chose his own preferences.

What does Prentice Onayemi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I am a great fan of audio books. I like Prentice's voice and he adds good inflections rather than just straight reading of the book. He has a very calming voice, similar to Dr. Carson.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but unfortunately there are other demands on my time, so I had to listen in sections. I love listening to it when I am driving.

Any additional comments?

It is terrific that the audio book version so quickly after the release of the hardbound version.

Ben Carson is one of my favorite people so naturally I love his books. I feel he is very objective which is a dying trait in intellectuals. The book is a good reminder to think objectively. I like that he gives homework at the end of each chapter. I definitely think this book would have been better if I had read it but I listened to it on audible.

Balanced Ben

DBC is a remarkable person. We'd be lucky if he became president. I read Marco Rubio's memoir. While impressive also, DBC carries more gravitas about him...you can sense it. I think this guy has the potential to mean as much or more to our nation's pursuit of greater perfection than the great ones including Washington, Lincoln, FDR, JFK, and Reagan.
