Captain Vince Lombard, G-Marine company commander, is tasked with tracking down a stray ship. The Alliance Military Ship StarFire has gone silent, and previous attempts to locate her have resulted in the loss of more ships. After two previous wars with xenospecies humanity bumped into while expanding into space, no one knows what might be the cause of StarFire's missing in action status. And internal politics between Fleet command and the Galactic Marine Corps might mean that, unless something is done, humanity may get the news it's at war with yet another new race about the time they show up to attack one of the human systems in the sector.

A prequel to the book Fey, this story is a novelization of the story Vince related to Blondie in the previous book, which many readers requested. I'm happy to accomodate my readers by providing this novel-length version of that story.

The story is outstanding and well read. It's the first time I can remember being thankful that my morning commute was delayed by an hour, so I could continue listening to the story.

Wow! Hard to put it down

Would you consider the audio edition of StarFire to be better than the print version?

The story is good and i want to know what happens an i will listen to the next one. but it may get pushed back for more favorable authors. I prefer a fast paced book, i am not a hardcore read me the serial number sci fi fan. i like it fast pace action pact hero driven book. but the story will make me keep coming back, because the hero here gets in a spot and i really want to know what happens and i like him. if he wouldn't tell me so much about marine procedure and why and don't of everything he does. oh and he repeats some of the same things to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Solid Narrator, i could identify each character by his voice. he lead questions to questions and statements to statements i was never confused ny the meaning.

Good but dwells on things a bit

I was thinking it was a simple space sci-fi but I didn't think it involve court hearings in it. Good story and a little surprising twist.

I was surprised

This book was a lot better than I expected. And the narration was pretty good, too. I bought this book as 'filler' until I could find something else to listen to. I was expecting more of a second rate sci-fi, with card board characters, and a predictable outcome. Instead, I got a well thought out narrative, solidly built characters that you could care about, and a fun listen. Not only is it a good military sci-fi, it is reminiscent of 'a few good men' courtroom drama!

pleasantly surprising book
