Pittsburgh, PA has been magically transported to a world of elves and magic in order to stave off a monstrous invasion of Earth. Now Tinker, once a downtrodden waif from that city, but now a full-blooded elf ruler, must root out and destroy an evil plot that involves the kidnapping and breeding of elf children.

Tinker uncovers ancient secrets and a web of betrayal as she searches for the lost elflings. Meanwhile, the orc-like oni gangster kidnappers will stop at nothing to win, so neither can she. At five foot nothing, Tinker's greatest weapon has always been her intelligence. Politics, she discovers, is a battle of wits, and Tinker comes heavily armed.

Whether Elf Princess or Junkyard genius, Tinker swirls through the worlds she inhabits, bending them towards justice and peace…. Just try to ignore the chaos and destruction incidental to this outcome! Quite funny, charming and also a meditation on limits and urgency of the human lifespan and the virtual immortality of the elves. JP

Elfhome continues the story of Tinker, and the Pittsburgh displaced onto another world, but in this book we get to see more of Oilcan, and that oh-so-reluctant-hero, Tommy. The war heats up, as Tinker and Oilcan have to figure out just who is actually behind everything.

This is a very satisfying listen, the story supported by excellent narration. Tanya Eby doesn't falter, even as the cast expands, adding richness to the tapestry created by Wen Spencer. I hate having to wait for the next installment!

My favorite in this series. It's awesome getting some POV from Oilcan and Tommy Chang. I love getting to know all the characters in these books and the unique hybrid of cultures Wen Spencer developes in the series. You get a real FEEL for Elfhomes Pittsburgh and how the people in it live.

I've read it FIVE TIMES!

Wonderful world building mixed with lots of humor. The characters are engaging and believable. The narrator really brings the story to life. One quibble, Discord is just Wind Wolf's name for Storm Song. It is disconcerting when her voice changes to male when the nickname is used.

Breathlessly waiting for the next book in the series!!

Great book, great narrator, great series
