Leonard Cohen
Smith, Irving Layton, F.R. Scott, Louis Dudek und A.M. Klein aus ihren Werken.©2014 ZYX Music (P)2014 ZYXMusic
A short (fractionally under one hour) but deeply intense book of poems written and read by six Canadian poets, including the outstanding Leonard Cohen. Sounding very young after growing used to the latter years of his gloriously deep bass voice, Cohen reads eight of his poems selected from Let Us Compare Mythology.
This audio would be worth getting for this alone, but additionally there are nine poems (chapters 9 - 16) readings by AJM Smith, the dramatic Irving Layton (17 - 22) including the sad The Bull Cow (20) taken from The Improved Binoculars, FR Scott (23 - 31), sounding to this listener very much like actor Vincent Price at times, Louis Dudek (chapters 32 - 37) and finally, Abraham Moses Klein (38 - 43).
All of these poems are short, only one of which being longer than two minutes, and it is fascinating to be able to hear and compare these Canadian writers. Well worth a listen
