Ross Poldark is a heartwarming, gripping, and utterly entertaining saga that brings to life an unforgettable cast of characters and one of the greatest love stories of our age.

Ross Poldark returns to Cornwall from war, looking forward to a joyful homecoming with his family and his beloved Elizabeth. But instead he discovers that his father has died, his home is overrun by livestock and drunken servants, and Elizabeth, having believed Ross dead, is now engaged to his cousin. Ross must start over, building a completely new path for his life, one that takes him in exciting and unexpected directions…

Thus begins an intricately plotted story spanning loves, lives, and generations. The Poldark series is the masterwork of Winston Graham, who evoked the period and people like only he could, and created a world of rich and poor, loss and love, that listeners will not soon forget.

I loved the masculinity and unplumbed depths of this character , Ross, but there is so much more that will remain a mystery to us and probably to the character as he learns that the ruby above price is already his own
I can't wait for the next book

Great read

Fabulous narrator, beautiful story line can't wait for the next in the series. Differs from the PBS Series a bit but I liked it better because the characters are developed thoroughly and the relationships are explained.

I just discovered this author and story, through watching a couple PBS episodes. I'll definately continue this audible series. The narrator is quite good.

A good absorbing read.

I’ve watched the tv series and like it a lot. Still do. Though for different reasons.
This book gave me a much deeper and more complex understanding of Ross and Demelza. Together and apart. Love the way their internal thoughts are written. Some of Demelza’s thoughts made me laugh out loud. I appreciated the growing love Ross has for Demelza. It’s far more than what I saw in the tv series. He’s so content with life for a time. Wonderful character development. Captivating.
Feel like I’m beginning to really know these characters. Looking forward to all of the following books in this series. I rarely think any book is 5 stars. This one certainly is for me! Great narration.

Excellent Book!
