Meet Mulder and Scully, FBI: the agency maverick and the female agent assigned to keep him in line. Their job is to investigate the eerie unsolved mysteries the bureau wants handled quietly but quickly, before the public finds out what's really out there...and panics - the cases filed under "X".

In this ambitious and exciting X-Files adventure, Mulder and Scully fly to the Yucatán jungle to investigate a missing team of archaeologists. Their exploration leads to a strange electronic signal coming from beneath ancient ruins - a signal aimed upward, at the stars.

4.5/5 Stars The X-Files, Book 4 Ruins by Kevin J. Anderson Narrated by Patrick Lawlor
Summary:
Cassandra Rubicon and her archaeology team disappear in Mexico while investigating a new and exciting dig through some ancient Mayan ruins.

Additional Comments:
- Several other groups have a keen interest in the dig, or at least the many priceless artifacts that it holds.
- Mulder and Scully draw the case to investigate the disappearances.
- The police chief seems unhelpful. The guide seems unreliable. Both might have their own agendas. A team of US commandos get assigned to destroy the ruins because evidence suggests that it’s a base of some sort.
- The young archaeologist’s father insists on going to search for her. As he’s an experienced archaeologist himself, it’s allowed.
- The plot’s not all that complex, but it is believable in an unbelievable sort of charming x-files way. I might have read the book ages and ages ago. Definitely forgot it.
- I enjoyed the performance. There weren’t all that many characters, so the narrator didn’t have to stretch his lexicon of voices too much. He kept a nice cadence and distinguished characters well.
- Content Warnings: no curse words or unnecessary adult scenes. Some violence.
- Mulder is right but can’t prove it, of course.
- This has the original flavor of the series from eons ago.

Conclusion:
Satisfying X-Files tale.

book facts are incorrect the sermon on the mound was the most impactful sermon the Lord Jesus ever gave enriched more people than anything I've ever known and even more than a stupid song or single that's released on a record I cannot believe he said that records reach more people than the sound on the mound that is the biggest lie I've ever heard in the biggest blasphemous comment ever heard about my savages Christ . was a big X-Files fan until they decided to go on& become blasphemous against my king so we& Savior Jesus Christ. I will no longer be continuing this series of books and I will not be taking any of my precious time I'm watching any more episodes for a very long time maybe never again! 3 you trying to purposely lose fans more and more everyday

you lost me when u compared My Savior 2 rock music

Best of X-Files stories. This is more like the X-Files. This could be a show or movie in the X universe. Performance perfect. Not overdone like so many.

Good story more like X-Files

It was a great X-File book! They actual saved the person they meant to for once! As the title says sully actually saw a crypto-animal. Yes, she saw aliens, but never other animals that Mulder, believes in, but science doesn't in the TV series. Listen to the book for these facts alone!

Skully sees an actual Crypto-animal!
