In the cosmopolitan Paris of the 1880s, the new proprietors of the Opera House are amused to discover that their costly acquisition is said to be haunted. But their smiles quickly vanish as tragedy follows misfortune: a murdered stagehand, a fatal accident, a missing girl.

Fearful tales of the Opera Ghost race through the corridors and dressing rooms of the theatre. And with good reason - for deep in the catacombs beneath the Opera House, something is stirring....

A full cast dramatisation, featuring Anna Massey (Madame Giry), Peter Guinness (The Phantom), Alexander Siddig (The Persian), James D'Arcy (Raoul), Helen Goldwyn (Christine), Tony Millan (Moncharmin), Richard Earl (Richard), Nick Brimble (Philippe/Gaston), Nick Wilton (Lachenel/Mifroid), Geraldine Newman (Madame Valérius), Samantha Hughes (La Carlotta), Nicola Weeks (Meg/Adèle), and singers Linda Richardson (Christine/La Carlotta), Matthew Hargreaves (The Phantom). hi. i am a little bit crazy about phantom of the opera especially the original novel. i am so happy that there is one adaptation that is actually 99% accurate and oh my god this is so good, i love this so much, i love peter guinness, oh my god hes literally him, new voice headcanon, how is this only like 1 dollar oh my god i listen to this every night i go to bed its that good i still havent gotten tired of it

here is my one maybe complaint
ehhhh the ending is a little rushed imo, it just doesnt hit the way it does in the book, but i get why it would be harder to adapt into radio tho. also im talking about right before the daroga wakes up, everything after that is fine, i just think the memories or whatever before that were like "wait huh"

also this is like. only a complaint in regards to capturing the original novel, cause i noticed that was said to be important in the credits so like, yeah its technically still accurate you kinda just did it weird ?? i could genuinely care less tho this is my favorite thing ever and the music is so beautiful and omg

Absolutely wonderful and faithful adaptation of the original novel. Perhaps the best one of the book I have experienced. I only wish it had been longer!
