Publisher's summary

Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography is an intimate look at the day-to-day dealings of a drug kingpin in the heart of the ghetto. It's also the story of a boy born in poverty in Texas who grew up in a single-parent household in the heart of South Central, who was pushed through the school system each year and came out illiterate. His options were few, and he turned to drug dealing. This untold autobiography is not only personal, but also historical in its implications. Rick Ross chronicles the times by highlighting the social climate that made crack cocaine so desirable, and he points out that at the time, the "cops in the area didn't know what crack was; they didn't associate the small white rocks they saw on homies as illegal drugs". All Rick Ross knew was people wanted it.

Dope!

I loved the book. The narrator wasn’t really fitting for the character, would’ve been awesome if Rick himself or someone close to his voice. But overall great listen.

Excellent, down to earth tale of a crack dealer

I really loved this one. Rick Ross takes you through the year to year development of what may have been the largest single American drug distribution network. From beginning to end. His story is down to earth and avoids all the usual braggadocio you might expect from a man in his position.

The only problem... did they intentionally pick the whitest guy possible to narrate this? Why? Rick is a black man from one of the hardest ghettos in America: South Central LA. Wouldn't it have been better to get a black guy... or better yet Rick himself to narrate? Despite that minor problem, the narrator eventually grows on you and by the end I had become used to it.

Awesome Story

I appreciate the honesty that was spoken. The detailed facts was an eye opener. It could only be told this precise in print. Thank you Freeway Rick for your transparency.

Narration

Great book but it would be better received if the narrator were black, due to the descriptive language

Love it but...

Only thing I'd change is the narrator I don't think his voice truly captures the struggle of this black man's rise to power and fall from grace.

Rick Ross the Bo$$

The big point I took from this reading is...
Ricky made millions not being able to read, but reading saved his life.

Great auto I would have liked a couple more hrs but I feel like the Boss stayed to gangster and didn't give the gruesome details and business structures it took to be the best. Stayed to PG-13
Read by the whitest old guy ever!!! I didn't expect Denzel or wiz to be narrating, but such a fascinating life story needs a voice that has some pain and appreciation... this guy sounded like he's never had anything close to the excitement that comes with bags of cash
I needed that
Still B+....A- couldn't stop listening

Inspiring. Captivating. Superb StoryTeller.

Rick Ross' memoir is one worth listening to as it is rich with pithy insights, sheer grace at every turn and wisdom words. His memoir takes us deep into the drug scene of the 90s, told from the perspective of a big hearted dealer looking for redemption, and holds us captive from beginning till the end. Highly Recommended
