Molly Appleby is a young writer for Collector's Weekly, and when the attractive reporter isn't covering auctions and antique shows all over the South, she's trying to get her new relationship with a coworker off the ground. When her latest assignment takes her to North Carolina pottery country to cover an exclusive kiln opening, she's certain that the show promises surprising offerings and rare finds. What she doesn't expect to find is a dead body.

George-Bradley Staunton is known throughout the antiques world as a very wealthy and very ruthless collector, and when he drops dead just after the opening, there are all too few mourners and a seemingly endless list of suspects. When the local police are stumped, Molly steps in to put her journalist's nose to work sniffing out the culprit. But no sooner does she start collecting clues than another dead body falls into her lap. As Molly digs beneath the genteel surface of antiques and collectibles, she finds a world filled with backstabbing and competition, and what started as a story about rare collections might leave Molly with nothing more than a collection of corpses.

Pretty good debut. A quick cozy mystery with a dash of romance. Not a bad start.

Pottery and murder

Not very well constructed and add a sprite of self justice

First of off all the book was very ' dry ' - only a few hints of humor usually tinged with negativity.
Calling people stupid (Dumb and Dumber) does not amuse me.

If you like pottery, this may be a more interesting read. However the authors attempt to make
clay into an almost living thing is laughable for the rest of us.

Our hero spends the entire book trying to figure out who the murderer is and then when she does the entire thing just kind of goes away.

Also ex wife and mistress mysteries are so overused it can not be considered very original.

And at the end we really still don't know who the murderer is or if they even killed the 'right' victim as I suspect there were 2 people in the car at the time of the accident. Or maybe I just lost interest ... - which it never really held to begin with.

Not very well constructed

I love all of Ellery Adams books. But this is my all time favorite. Could not put it down for want of knowing what would happen next. The ending was well played with a twist of divine justice. Made me smile!

A well crafted mystery with a satisfying twist at the end. Genius!
