I'm the guy you come to when your spouse gets bitten by a werewolf, or your honey is kidnapped by a demon. I'm the guy who knows how to save you from an evil curse or angry vampire.

At least, I was that guy until the Society of Shadows sent me to Dearmont, Maine, a sleepy town that had a zero rating on the supernatural occurrences scale.

My plan was to spend my days sitting in the office with nothing to do except drink coffee and eat apple bakes made by Felicity, my new assistant.

But when a woman hires me to find out if her son has been possessed by a demon at a rich kids' party, and a young man comes to the office insisting he's been bitten by a werewolf, Dearmont goes from zero to hero.

Oh, and did I mention that someone in the Society wants me dead?

Time to sharpen the swords and go to work.

I really enjoyed this first book and looking forward to learning more. It felt like a preternatural moonlighting. With a little Dresden. And Greg Tremblay’s narration was wonderful. I have enjoyed several of the books he has read and am happy this one is now a part of my collection.

Pleasantly surprising

A PI with a memory glitch. His shadowy organization has exiled him to a small town in Maine. Strange things happen in this town and strange things follow him TO this town. An excellent start to the series, good characters that you can care about. The narrator does a pretty good job, but could be a bit less staccato in his delicpvery. Id'd buy it again.

Maine and paranormal - what's not to love?

good start but it's too short. hoping to see a longer 2nd book. character depth is lacking and storyline moves fast.

When you see the letters P.I. after someone's name, you immediately think Private Investigator. For Alex Harbinger, the I still means Investigator, but the P means something else - Preternatural. He investigates all those little things that go bump in the night, and usually finds something that would knock your socks off.

Relocated to what he feels will be his version of Siberia (My words, not his,) he is surprised to find he has a client on his first day in his new office. From there, the roller-coaster ride begins. I've listened to all the books available, and am currently re-listening in anticipation of the release of the two newest books, whenever that may be - they're worth waiting for.

Greg Tremblay is fantastic as the voice of Harbinger P.I. and I wish I know of other books he narrates, his voice would make almost any book worth listening to. He easily gives each character a recognizable "voice" of their own and there's no wondering who's talking.

My only complaint about the entire series of books, is that each book is just too short. The Story Arc continues smoothly from book to book, but each individual book is not as long as most "average" books, and definitely not of "epic" length. But even with that in mind, I will GLADLY use a credit, or even pay full price for all future books in the Harbinger Series.

New meaning for the letters P.I.

I really enjoyed this book, it's fast paced and fun to read. I could have done without the male fantasy scenario of a pretty young thing needing "therapy" sex though. However, the author recovered himself in time to keep me reading and the story resumed.

Fun book, fast paced.
