By day, Angie, a 20-year veteran of the tech industry, is a data analyst at Tomo, the world's largest social networking company; by night, she exploits her database access to profile domestic abusers and kill the worst of them. She can't change her own traumatic past, but she can save other women.

When Tomo introduces a deceptive new product that preys on users' fears to drive up its own revenue, Angie sees Tomo for what it really is - another evil abuser. Using her coding and hacking expertise, she decides to destroy Tomo by building a new social network that is completely distributed, compartmentalized, and unstoppable. If she succeeds, it will be the end of all centralized power in the Internet.

But how can an anti-social, one-armed programmer with too many dark secrets succeed when the world's largest tech company is out to crush her and a no-name government black ops agency sets a psychopath to look into her growing digital footprint?

I think the author may have been going for Mr robot meets Dexter, but the plot meanders about and seems to lose interest in that idea and becomes a book about a crazy person starting a tech start up, so Patrick Bateman meets silicon valley. I did not care for the performance. the book switches between 1st person and 3rd person perspectives, and the lack of character voice stylings made it difficult to follow along. I found myself backing up way too often. The main character is an unreliable narrator, which makes accepting the climax difficult. when it happens it seems contrived, though if you think back on previous parts of the book it makes sense. finally, I found the main character thoroughly unlikeable Though that may be because I didn't like the reader I found myself hoping for bad things to happen to her. I'll probably not go any further into the series.

Decent techno thriller

I waa skeptical, but the story kept my attention. I could not stop listening once the story climax. The flashbacks were not smooth at times. I believe my enjoyment is a result of my job, gender, and hobbies. My wife enjoyed the psychology . The imposter syndrome is real and was illustrated in this story. The privacy issue painted is fabricated image of reality. Unfortunately, the level of fabrication is debatable in some communities.

Surprisingly Good

Wait for it!!! The ending twist is worth listening to the whole book but the whole story is full of entertaining twists and turns. Great listen for tech junkies!

Fantastic thrill ride

You'll enjoy this book immensely if you have some familiarity with coding or hacking. If not you'll probably be a little bored with this title.

Interesting but very technical.
