From beloved author Melanie Dickerson comes a New York Times bestselling medieval fairy-tale retelling filled with court intrigue, hidden identity, and a heroine fighting to reclaim her voice--perfect for readers who love clean romance woven with danger, faith, and adventure.

Desperate to flee a political marriage to her cousin King Richard II's closest advisor, Lord Shiveley--a man twice her age with shadowy motives--Evangeline runs away and joins a small band of servants journeying back to Glynval, their home village.

Pretending to be mute, she gets to know Westley le Wyse, their handsome young leader, who is intrigued by the beautiful servant girl. But when the truth comes out, it may shatter any hope that love could grow between them.

More than Evangeline's future is at stake as she finds herseself entangled in a web of intrigue that threatens England's monarchy. Should she give herself up to protect the only person who cares about her? If she does, who will save the king from a plot to steal his throne?

Perfect for fans of fairy-tale retellings, Silent Songbird is a richly imagined story of courage, sacrifice, and the power of finding--and using--your voice. With its thoughtful discussion questions and gentle spiritual insights, it's a wonderful, clean read for teens, families, and anyone who loves fairy-tale magic with real-world heart.

Silent Songbird can be enjoyed as a standalone or as an essential chapter in Dickerson's beloved YA world (other books include The Fairest Beauty, The Captive Maiden, Princess Spy, and Golden Braid).

Critic reviews

'A terrific YA crossover medieval romance from the author of The Golden Braid.'
'This charming, fairy-tale romance is the author’s retelling of The Little Mermaid . . . Readers will cheer for Evangeline, as well as for Westley as he celebrates her many talents.'
'Dickerson weaves a compelling tale that takes place long ago in England . . . This book will have you jumping out of your seat with anticipation at times. Moderate to fast-paced, you will not want this book to end. Recommended for all, especially lovers of historical romance.'

I really like Melanie Dickerson books.
My husband and I listen to them while traveling. Just enough drama to keep him interested and I enjoy the love story. My favorite thing is how these stories include God and His word all throughout. Thank you for writing Christian fiction.

Enjoyed this book very much.
