Bring history back to life through Jim Hodges' historically accurate, exciting, and edifying audio recordings.

With hearty singing of Psalms, Drake and his crew greeted the Pomo Indians who resided in an area known today as San Francisco. Sir Francis Drake is the first English explorer to circumnavigate the globe and thus sail upon the Pacific Ocean. Ned Hearne and three of his friends make up part of Drake's crew. The boys will share in Drake's adventures on the Spanish Main in the 1580s. The heroic adventures of Francis Drake and life on the Spanish Main (Central America) will come alive through the masterful storytelling of G. A. Henty.

The Henty Historical Novel Collection, written by George Henty in the 1800s, covers many time periods in history throughout the world. In this collection you will learn history, geography, and vocabulary while also discovering hero characters for your children to emulate.

could be better categorized as a book for young teens, but I would hate for young readers to believe that the white folks constantly amazed Indians, on the Indians land, led them to defeat the horrible Spaniards because they just needed these two kids help... perhaps it's the insertion of history into this imaginative story that bothers me, but if you’re tired of the typical narratives of many audiobooks and want a laugh and another opportunity to reflect on the true history of America, nice 👌

I always enjoy the GA Henty stories. It would be nice if he dramatized the story. Still enjoy it though.

teens and parents listened together and all enjoyed this great historic story. not for very young listeners, though- not a lot of war and details about such things, but enough that I would not recommend for younger ones

great story

Poor writing of a very good story. The author did not do justice to the adventures contained in what should have been a thrilling and memorable historical adventure.

Good narration

the story was interesting. However, the narration was not appropriate. Very wimpy sing song with the accent being “valley girl” rather than 16th Century British. Took some endurance to listen to the narration. But, it was a free bonus book.
