If you could travel back in time, the period from 1660 to 1700 would make one of the most exciting destinations in history.

It's the age of Samuel Pepys and the Great Fire of London, bawdy comedy and the libertine court of Charles II, Christopher Wren in architecture, Henry Purcell in music and Isaac Newton in science. In The Time Traveller's Guide to Restoration Britain, Ian Mortimer answers the crucial questions that a prospective traveller to 17th-century Britain would ask.

Both the content and performance of this audiobook are splendid. I've listened multiple times, listened with eager attention, listened while drifting off to sleep, listened when what I needed most was to disconnect from the stresses and demands of the day and focus on something quite otherworldly. A real delight.

Well, this is a tomb, but absolutely lovely. Great and varied storytelling, A lot of different types of sources were used and I particularly liked that they were told as part of the story. Performance was just stellar.

The best by far of the three volumes (to date) of Ian Mortimer's Time Traveller's Guides. Packed full of detail and social analysis, and combined with gentle wit, this was a great read. The narrator has a pleasant tone and reads at a measured pace.

Well narrated, fascinating information
