Fans have described the trilogy as Game of Thrones meets The Three Musketeers.

When Soren is plucked from the streets and given a place at the prestigious academy of swordsmanship, he thinks his dream of being a great swordsman has become a possibility. However, with great intrigues unfolding all around him, Soren discovers that he is little more than a pawn to the ambitions of others.

As he is swept from high society into exile in foreign lands to escape those who see him as a threat, he must rely on a mysterious gift and the lessons learned at the academy if he hopes to survive in a society where disputes are settled with a sword.

The Society of the Swords Trilogy contains the complete series.

I enjoyed this trilogy. That said, there are many like it and many are better.

I like my fantasy to be a bit more epic. To live up to that expectation this trilogy would have had to be just the first book in a much bigger trilogy.

A good first book

This book surprised me. I grabbed this one in a "I need to hear a decent booook!" kind of mood (you know the kind.. you're bored... you're trying to let time breeze on by but for some reason it's draaaging by...). So, I did something I don't usually do and I grabbed this book from an ad on the site. (yes, I KNOW that's what they're for but I haven't always had the best outcomes so I learned to shy away and just browse.) anyway, on this day I was seriously jonesing so, like I said, I grabbed this thing on the fly.
SURPRISE! it turned out to be a pretty cool book. I was so pleasantly surprised that I listened to it twice. (now that's rare!) Second listen, STILL a cool book. So yes, get this book. it's got the added bargain of being 3 books in 1 so... yay, me and yay you too if you decide to check this out. Go for it. AND yes, I am adding that celebration thingie on the end of this one so yay me again for doing cool stuff on my favorite site.

Rags to riches story that lacks surprises but nevertheless engaging and worthwhile listening. The audio performance was outstanding.

Entertaining but short of brilliant

Nicely written

Society of The Sword is a great listen. Its one of the only books that I have actively gone back and listened to and is still great every single time I listen to it. The character arcs and overall development of said characters is wonderful and you truly end up caring for these people within the story. The plot is well developed and unlike some stories it doesn't come across as juvenile or "teeny/tweeny", thank god. Give it a listen, you won't regret it.

Its Just a Great Story
