A dead ship returns to the Deep Dark with a live crew.

Captain Ishmael Wang finally gets the Chernyakova out of the yard and embarks on a voyage into the Toe-Holds where the Confederated Planets Joint Committee on Trade has no authority. Where the law is whatever you say it is as long as you can enforce it.

Great as always but ...

If you are this far into the series it doesn't matter what I say because like me you are addicted and have to know what's next. This is a great story but compared to the others in the series it felt lacking, however I see it as a necessary building block for the story as a whole and worth the listen.

Another great story cut short by Jeffery Kafer

I love all the Nathan Lowell's Stories. I got hooked on these books when I first found the versions that Nathan had narrated on podiobooks.com. When they became available I also purchased the kindle books. After listening to the sonorous voice of Nathan Lowell, it is a total let down to hear the Performance of Jeffery Kafer. I think Jeffery was an incredibly poor choice of narrator for this work. If I had any other choice, I wouldn't listen to the narrations by Kafer. I understand that Nathan doesn't have the time to narrate these himself with all the projects he has going, but I think it would have been better if Audible had worked with him to find someone that more closely matches his presentation. I absolutely will not purchase any of the original series narrated by Jeffery Kafer as they are no match for the narrations that Natan performed. I'm undecided if I will purchase any of the future books performed by Kafer.

Great story, abrupt ending

What made the experience of listening to To Fire Called the most enjoyable?

The latest installment of the tales of the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper follows the same overall easy going slice of life as the previous books, you're not on the edge of your seat reading/listening to this series, you're relaxed in an arm chair on a lazy Sunday afternoon drawn into the world and don't want to leave. The only downside is leave you must, and like with many of its predecessors the book ends abruptly and it feels like I missed out on at least 3 chapters.

Prefer Author Narration

After hearing the original podcast read by the author, it is a bit disheartening the trend did not continue. Lowell brought a depth to Ishmael Wang that is sorely lacking without his narration. As for the series itself, great character and plot development, good reference to prior material, and reintroduction to several subplots & characters round out a great addition to original series.

Preachy

A good story ruined by preaching a political word view to excess. Very judgmental and intolerant to the point of damaging any good the author desires. His first book did an excellent job of expressing a tolerant society in a convincing and credible presentation of both characters and story.

disappointing

very disappointed in this last book. especially with the last couple of chapter's. the author would go in to exacting detail describing a meal but one word about what happen after the attack. I felt like he was just ready to be done with the series and phoned it in. my advice would be to just stop with Owner's Share and not waist your money on these last two books.

Not his best

I have listened to all of Nathan’s books. I was disappointed to learn that Nathan did not narrate the newest editions. I did not not care for the rhythm the new narrator used or the tone of his voice. The story wasn’t up to the level of the first stories in the saga of Ismael Wong. I don’t expect I’ll purchase anymore books in this series if there are any to come. This story seemed incomplete compared to the previous stories in the saga.

If you like boring books this one is for you.

I slogged through the previous books in this series about Ishmael wang, he went from an insufferable Mary Sue and transformed into a flawed boring character. It took me about six months to complete this book because it was a chore to get through. Had the author cut out all the parts about shopping, fashion and meals the book would be about 1/3 of its length.

Amazing story, very poor reader.

I absolutely love Nathan Lowell’s stories about Ishmael. He gave life to him and his team through his readings on the podcast versions of the fist 6 books... this reader makes Ishmael and his characters seem like disgruntled alcoholic 1940 NYC Detectives... the reader did a great job at his 1940s NYC Detective voice, but it is completely misplaced for Ishmael.

Please find a different reader for the next books that will do Nathan Lowell’s characters justice.

10/10 Story by Nathan Lowell. I look forward to the next one.

I go back and forth.

I go back and forth on whether I like Nathan Lowell. After listening to this series twice I realize it's the performance of the narrator is the week spot if there is any.

I enjoy the series. His story make me want to go out and do business and get my owners share through hard work, dedication and a little luck.
