Ever since being stuck with the job of pythia, the chief seer of the supernatural world, Cassie Palmer has been playing catch up. Catch up to the lifetime's worth of training she missed being raised by a psychotic vampire instead of at the fabled pythian court. Catch up to the powerful, and sometimes seductive, forces trying to mold her to their will. It's been a trial by fire that has left her more than a little burned.

But now she realizes that all that was just the warm up for the real race. Ancient forces that once terrorized the world are trying to return, and Cassie is the only one who can stop them....

This was another great book by Karen Chance! The story line was great and finally a resolution to a problem that has been going on for multiple books! I felt like this one had a little more adult language and content than previous books on the series, but still enjoyed the overall story! Narrator did a great job with the exception of some male voices in the beginning (these smoothed out towards the end). Looking forward to the next book!

Loved listening! The book was amazing as always!

Great narration for a most excellent story. Karen Chance weaves a complex, beautiful narrative full of feeling and awe inspiring action.

Excellent

The story was good, the reader was terrific. The engineering was what messed it up. A couple of places had sentence repeats, but even worse were the places that sounded stretched or scratched. That was annoying and difficult to understand.

except for some scrapes, this would have 5 stars.

I love this story (mostly - the last one waa frustrating). I could listen to the day to day of every character and not get bored if written by Karen Chance. I wait each year to read this story, romance, adventure, diary, journal of a friend. And root for the most passionate, romantic, stubborn, giving, gracious, wonderful, magical, heart stopping man who never lived. I can't get enough (which I've only ever said about a red curly headed witch who changed everything too). Karen Chance - please write more. Please let your world collide into mine and cascade my imagination into reality.

I always hate these books bc I always want more

I like this series but the narrator for these last three is just...rough. Her pacing is strange, and I swear sometimes it's clips of separate recordings and you can hear snippets of like someone else saying something in the background? Plus her pronunciation is all over the place. Sometimes on just general words, I swear she says 'cluekless' in chapter 28, around 12h 7m 5s remaining. Which wouldn't be so bad, except other times it's on things like names, etc. I get that it's gonna change book to book when the narrators change....but she changes pronunciations of things or the voices she uses for people chapter to chapter or scene to scene. It makes it hard to follow sometimes, and you wonder if anyone proof listened before giving the OK on this. :/

But, all in all it's about the book series and I really do enjoy Karen Chance's writing and Cassie Palmer - just maybe go with the kindle version if you can!

Good book, real iffy narration
