Grand Junction, Colorado, 2001: When Michael Blagg's adoring wife, Jennifer, and his six year-old-daughter, Abby, disappeared from their home, Michael led the charge to find them, even going so far as to make a nationwide appeal on Good Morning America for information. But seven months later, investigators found Jennifer's remains in a Mesa County landfill, and things took a darker turn....

Jennifer had been shot in the head, investigators discovered, and Abby was nowhere to be found. While Michael, a respected prayer-group leader, played the part of grieving survivor, authorities became increasingly suspicious. There was blood evidence in the back of the family's van. Was Blagg a cold-blooded killer? A religious fanatic? This is the terrifying true story of what happened when Jennifer and Abby Blagg were....

A well-told story with a lot of details I had never heard on the case before

Good listen

I felt there was too much testimony and interview dialogue and not enough investigative material. The key points of evidence were briefly mentioned.

interesting Story

Sound quality is horrible. Narrator sounds like he’s speaking from a tape recorder bought at radio shack. Very irritating.

There are many different tastes for people who love true crime, in terms of how the author presents the material. This was exactly how I like my true crime written. He verbatim recounted the police interviews, the evidence and covered the trial. I love that in no way did he add any boring redundant filler , give any bias or bad mouth the perp. Unfortunately, that seems to be a bad habit that a lot of true crime authors pick up , in order to make the book longer and seem more relevant ie, William Phelps . I can’t even listen to Phelps even when I’m interested in the cases he writes , due to his poor writing style and ,that simply isn’t the case with Eric Francis. Looking forward to listening to more of this author.

This was great!

This book is well written for the genre. I like true crime books but very few current true crime writers have the literary talent to write a local household hints column in a free supermarket paper. The narrator is good, impartial and does not read as though he is auditioning for community theatre, again an irritation in many true crime books. There is some problem with the recording, however. It sounds as if it’s been recorded by phone with the speaker in a barrel. I almost didn’t get through the first five minutes because the sound was so odd. The s’s are whistled through no fault of the narrator. It seems to be part of the poor recording.
