Communist Party’s propaganda

This book made frequent references to Chinese communist party’s “successful” leadership, history and beliefs. Disappointed.

A practical guide with the author's interpretation

This is similar to the version for the first 10 chapters of the Analects by the author/narrator. If you have not tried it, I highly recommend listening to the Analects by the same narrator. The narrator gives his own interpretation of the Lao Zi using cultural and historic examples. Certain examples uses Chinese history and it is easy for someone who is not well versed in PRC history to get the feeling that this is biased propaganda. It is not just a mundane reading and explaining of the classical text but rather an analysis of Lao Zi and his thoughts and actions through the 81 chapters. The narrator recommends the reader to start the Lao Zi from the end to the beginning to avoid confusion of 无为.
