A Washington Post and Amazon Charts bestseller.

“A delightful, light-as-air romance that successfully straddles the line between sweet and smart without ever being silly…The novel is simply captivating from beginning to end.” - Associated Press

Marnie MacGraw wants an ordinary life - a husband, kids, and a minivan in the suburbs. Now that she’s marrying the man of her dreams, she’s sure this is the life she’ll get. Then Marnie meets Blix Holliday, her fiancé’s irascible matchmaking great-aunt who’s dying, and everything changes - just as Blix told her it would.

When her marriage ends after two miserable weeks, Marnie is understandably shocked. She’s even more astonished to find that she’s inherited Blix’s Brooklyn brownstone along with all of Blix’s unfinished “projects”: the heartbroken, oddball friends and neighbors running from happiness. Marnie doesn’t believe she’s anything special, but Blix somehow knew she was the perfect person to follow in her matchmaker footsteps.

And Blix was also right about some things Marnie must learn the hard way: love is hard to recognize, and the ones who push love away often are the ones who need it most.

I downloaded this at 10 pm on a Friday night and finished it on Sunday afternoon. One or the best stories I have read in a long time.

Exceptional

knocked off one star because it's not something I will read over and over, nor would I recommend it to any of my guy friends. but it's a fun easy listen.

a little cheesy but fun easy listen

I absolutely loved this book. Blix by far was my favorite character. There were times when I wanted to ring Marnie's neck, but I enjoyed how she developed as a character. And I loved the entire Brooklyn crew, so many great supporting characters rounded out the story. I do feel like the ending was slightly rushed after taking so much time to make everything happen, but that is a minor complaint. Great book overall.

wonderful read, er, listen!

I liked author’s voice aka how she wrote this story. However, story it self got sort of very silly and a bit foolish. I liked it until the middle after that meh. Once the main character lost my respect for a certain thing she did, I didn’t like her anymore and the more story went on, the more I realize that mc is sort of an idiot who is 29 but acts like 14 year old. So, basically I didn’t like this book.

At first exciting but then got boring

life is much better when you remember that whatever happens make the most of it
