THRILLS, SPILLS, & ROMANCE...YA STYLE!

An ancient solid gold cross has been buried seemingly forever. Only Young Chase Baker is brave enough to dig it back up.

You know Chase Baker as an adventurer and Renaissance man who loves the ladies but who also loves finding trouble in the form of buried treasure all around the globe. But what was Chase like back when he was a teenager? Turns out, he was a younger version of his adult self.

In this, the first short novel in the new Young Chase Baker action & adventure series, Chase teams up with his two best amigos - the skinny, fun loving, Twigs, and the combative but courageous, Baily. At Chase’s urging, the three embark on a late night quest to uncover the Cross of the Last Crusade, which is said to have been buried along with the body of an old Frenchman, Pierre Menands. When Chase’s “sort of” girlfriend, the beautiful Monique, joins the hunt, the band of teens face down haunted ghosts, angry cops, a speeding locomotive, rabid dogs, a murderous resurrected crusader, and finally, the zombie reincarnation of Menands himself.

For fans of young adult, romantic suspense, alternative history, and action & adventure tales like those created by JR Rain, JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins, and Clive Cussler, New York Times and USA Today best-selling ITW Thriller Award winning author, Vincent Zandri, delivers a brand new thriller written for all ages and for everyone who loves a pulse-pounding, fast, edge-of-your-seat listen.

Young Chase Baker and the Cross of the Crusades

What a fun audiobook! Set in the 80s, Chase Baker and two friends (Bailey and Twigs) embark on an adventure of trying to rescue an ancient cross from the European Crusades. The story is action-packed, entertaining and funny, with some nice surprises along the way. The author manages to capture the natures of teenage boys surprisingly well.

Andrew Wehrlen does a great job as narrator; he brought all of the characters to life for me.

The only thing I didn’t care for was the book’s sudden ending.

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Quick but entertaining young Chase Baker adventure

Young Chase Baker is full of fun and excitement just like he is when he grows up. His sense of adventure clearly started when he was young. This was a quick book but it is packed with so much excitement, danger and fun! We get a good look at how it all began. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

Young Indiana Jones

What an enjoyable romp! Set in the '70s with an almost Stand By Me '50s vibe, a young boy and his friends get into serious trouble trying to rescue a valuable religious artifact. Narrator Andrew Wehrlen brought the story to life as he voiced the villains and the valiant, managing boys (and adolescent humor), girls, adults, and foreign accents with aplomb. FUN!

YOUNG Chase

Chase Baker at 15 years of age with goofy friends and a Girlfriend! Coming by his adventurousness honestly, (his Dad is like Indiana Jones) Chase goes after The Cross with all the enthusiasm and foolhardiness of "youth." Zandri does it again with this prequel to the Chase Baker series. Fun Stuff!!

Magical Cross

Fifteen year old Chase Baker learns of a jewel encrusted cross carried by a Templar Knight during the last crusade. He and two friends decide to rob a grave where it's supposed to be buried. The grave is empty. Chased by police, they continue on their quest. I was gifted this from the author.

A Fit Prequel To The Chase Baker Series

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

It is not often that we get to know the main character of a series we like, but this book does just that and looks into the early life of Chase Baker. It offers us the opportunity to understand how his adult life was shaped by his upbringing. Even as a teenager, Chase is looking for adventures and is willing to risk life and limb and the paternal wrath, as long as he has the chance to unravel a fascinating mystery. His best buddies and first love believe in him, in his abilities and judgement, even when they face the ultimate challenge and what could be their too young demise. The spirit of adventure fueled by his father unorthodox parenting skills, will bring young Chase to become the man whose adventures we learned to love. A great way to give us an intimate peek into the early years of a beloved character. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters' interpretation and the author used his writing skills superbly.

Good Story Abrupt Ending

This is the first in a new series of Young Chase Baker Novels written by Vincent Zandri. The Publishers Blurbs almost tells the whole story. I thought there would be more but I was wrong. The story itself is a blend of Young Indiana Jones and the Goonies. I really did enjoy the story for the most part but the character of Twigs drove me nuts. The author did a perfect job of writing an obnoxious teenage boy. With the narrator creating a voice for the character that became like nails on a chalkboard for me 20 minutes into the story. My biggest complaint was the abrupt ending. The narration was very well done by Andrew B. Wehrlen his performance was memorable. I have heard His work in many genres and he always delivers a great performance. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Fun and enjoyable for the whole family

Young Chase Baker book 1 was a very fun and adventurous ride. The characters are fun and inventive. The story flowed very well with rarely a dull moment. The story was fleshed out well and the created a sense of urgency for the characters. Twigs was funny with "The Claw" and the trio were very well formed.
The story was creative and funny with a lot of action and some twists and turns along the way. Very good start to a new young adult series based on Zandri's great characters.

Andrew Wehrlen was awesome. He has such a great chemistry with the audiobook format. He is able to bring the pages of the story to life. He sounds genuinely excited when narrating as though he would not want to be anywhere else.

I requested a free review copy of this audiobook and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

A great listen

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I've become a fan of the Chase Baker series, so was intrigued by this book. This was pretty much a YA version of the familiar series. So, pretty darn good. The narration is fantastic, which is no surprise from Andrew Wehrlen. If you've enjoyed the Chase Baker series, or just want a quick, fun action/adventure story, you should pick this one up.
