BDSM IS A FORM OF THERAPY

I don't normally write reviews to address other people's reviews but I just couldn't let this one stand. BDSM can be and is often used as a form of therapy for sexual abuse survivors. BDSM isn't always just a fun kinky good time. If you aren't truly educated about the lifestyle and only get your information from BDSM romance books please don't make unfounded comments about it. Yes this, like so many books, bends a bit of reality by pushing a therapy session into a two week time frame. The author also states repeatedly that these are only the beginning steps to a life long journey. Yes this a dark, trigger filled book. It's possible to not like a book without leaving a horrible, negative review.

Brutal and Raw

Alright y’all, buckle up for this one! I just finished Knotted by Pam Godwin and I am so torn. This is a love story following childhood sweethearts, Jake and Conner, whose lives are irreparably changed when what was supposed to be the most special first time for them ended in brutal assault and murder. This experience begins years of pain and difficulty as everyone tries to recover some piece of themselves, around the pain, rejection, family secrets, and trauma.

This was a HARD one to read. I don’t DNF ever, but the way this book starts almost pushed me to that point just due its painful brutality. That said, I think the overall story strives to encapsulate the incredible love and devotion Jake has for Conner, and his dedication to caring for her and helping her to become whole again after her trauma. It is truly a beautiful love story, though full of so much pain and heartbreak. You cannot read this without feeling intensely.

Definitely not a light or easy read, but well written, full of so much heart, and I imagine this resonates deeply with some people. If you’re interested in this, PLEASE check trigger warnings first.

Holy Cow-boy!!

This book had me ENTHRALLED. The first chapter(s) are so difficult to get through - I was nauseous and triggered as it was written in very vivid detail. My heart physically ached and mended throughout this book. Thankfully I was breathing at the end and I’m looking forward to the next couple books in this series. I don’t envy the authors or whoever on finding good narrators BUT they over delivered! Being an avid audible customer has brought me through some great books with shitty narrators but this was perfection! I hope the next one will be just as good 🤞🏼

some parts are hard to listen too. turns you on then pisses you off. a wild gambit of emotion

Grasping for Words!

It has been a long time since I have been this emotionally moved by a book. Prepare to cry, and laugh, and cry some more. My heart broke and healed with these characters. As others have mentioned, there is dark, sexual trauma in this book, but it is not overdone. What a journey this book has been. One of the best audiobooks I have ever purchased. Totally worth the credit!
