El Paso wasn’t the Promised Land that Ian and his crew had hoped for, but it wasn’t a total bust either. The concept of a safe haven in today’s world was a fool’s errand at best. This was the consensus of their tiny band and to keep moving their only salvation. While others waited in their pens, the four from the private security company moved on, taking on as many they could help, in hopes that they too would join the fight. Their journey was long and arduous, but it was worth it...they hope.

El Paso is where the final evidence that this is more than a simple lab experiment gone wrong is. It was too focused, with too many players who knew too much too early in the game, causing assumptions to be made. Assumptions that gained strength with every step they took until the small troop was convinced that this was not just a simple virus of natural origins. America was under attack.

For Which We Stand is a postapocalyptic thriller that lends credence to the fears that many share. Is it possible? No one can say. Five Roads to Texas is but one of hundreds of end-of-the-world scenarios. We all know it’s coming; how and when are the only questions.

For Which We Stand: Ian's Road (A Five Roads to Texas Novel) written by Joseph Hansen a member of Phalanx Press. The Narration is done by Andrew B. Wehrlen. This is technically the third book in the Five Roads to Texas Universe. After the First group collaboration, it appears each author is taking a character and developing a separate storyline in this amazing new Zom-Poc Universe they have created.

This audiobook follows Ian and his crew as they wisely escape El Paso and head west. This is a fun New World that the members of Phalanx Press have created. The zombie-like creatures and humans provide some excellent material for world building adventures that really holds the listener's attention. The narration by Mr. Wehrlen is once again excellent. He provides an outstanding performance giving each character their own unique voice and creating the perfect amount of dramatic tension throughout the performance. The production value is of the highest quality by the publisher Phalanx Press. The performance crisp and clear through the entire audiobook. As the series continues our crew knows it’s time to get out of El Paso and head for the nearest safe house in Scottsdale, while picking up survivors along the way. They come across a canine training facility besieged by infected, rescuing the owner and several dogs; two in particular, Jasper and Thor, which will prove very handy in weeks to come. Jasper was earmarked for Ian and Thor went to Hosea. Evidently the North Koreans and Iranians have plans for our resources and infrastructure so nukes are a no-no. The virus set loose on our country is to remove most if not all of the resistance. Then the invasion can commence full force. At least that’s the master plan. Will it succeed? North Korean master plan!

This was a good addition to the Five Roads saga. Ian and his crew are leaving El Paso, trying to reach another safe house. Along the way, they encounter survivors, military (US and enemy) and, of course, Zombies!

There is a lot of action, a bunch of new characters and DOGS! I loved the addition of the dogs and hope to read more about Jasper and some of the other characters in future books. If you enjoy books in the zompoc genre with an emphasis on military-type action, you will love this book.

The narrator does a great job and continues to be one of my favorites. I was given the chance to listen to this book through Audiobook Boom! and chose to review it.
