“Narrated by Audie Award finalist Kristine Hvam, this book is at once a fun adventure and a gorgeous story about grief, love and found family.”—Reader’s Digest

"Khristine Hvam's narration is as heartfelt as the story of 12-year-old Coyote Sunrise...Both the story and Hvam's distinctive narration will linger in listeners' minds." — AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner

Five years.

That's how long Coyote and her dad, Rodeo, have lived on the road in an old school bus, criss-crossing the nation.

It's also how long ago Coyote lost her mom and two sisters in a car crash.

Coyote hasn’t been home in all that time, but when she learns that the park in her old neighborhood is being demolished—the very same park where she, her mom, and her sisters buried a treasured memory box—she devises an elaborate plan to get her dad to drive 3,600 miles back to Washington state in four days...without him realizing it.

Along the way, they'll pick up a strange crew of misfit travelers. Lester has a lady love to meet. Salvador and his mom are looking to start over. Val needs a safe place to be herself. And then there's Gladys...

Over the course of thousands of miles, Coyote will learn that going home can sometimes be the hardest journey of all...but that with friends by her side, she just might be able to turn her “once upon a time” into a “happily ever after.”

Praise for The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise:

"If Katherine Applegate says a book “just plain makes you want to hug the world,” you know there’s magic there. And if you have narrator Khristine Hvam delivering a warm, slightly twangy performance as said book’s travel-worn protagonist, then that’s a listening experience not to be missed." - Paste.com

I asked my 15-year-old daughter what book she wanted me to read that showed me the kind of book she loved. This was the one and only book that she could imagine recommending. I loved listening to the narrator she has a great voice, and now I understand why my daughter loved the book! Not only does it have great writing but it also had me feeling all the emotions one could want. I really was impressed by how wonderfully descriptive the author was without being obvious.

A great journey for both young and old

This book was amazing! At some parts I laughed so hard, and sometimes I cried. I think that I would TOTALLY listen to this again

We listened to this with our children (ages 12, 11, and 9) during a cross country drive. Our 12-year old lost interest and stopped listening (the only book where he did this) and my wife thought it was super slow. My 9-year old son was the only one who maintained consistent interest throughout.

The book is slow, but I found the story interesting. The author tries too hard at times to pull on emotions when it isn’t necessary and this sappiness was often a distraction.

This is a fantastic book that shares a message of being kind above all else. It’s about Rodeo and Coyote’s 5-year journey of avoiding the past and the need to return only before something is destroyed. It’s about Coyote becoming Ella again and making some friends along the way.

Excellent book
