Jonas Quarrel has tracked Verity from Mexico to Northern California. Just what is he after?
Verity Ames finds herself fighting an attraction to Jonas from the moment he knocks on the door of the No Bull Cafe. He seems far too good to be true.
Together they will discover a shared passion and a shared danger.

Entitled, judgmental and rude heroine

It’s a great book, but some of the behavior towards women is less than appealing in todays society.
The narration was fantastic. Mr Colacci gave a great performance with consistent voices and inflection. I’ll definitely listen to more of his readings. I’ll listen to more of Jaynes books too…but I’ll remember this piece of it.
Great narration…okay story

Wow! Verity Ames is so often over-the-line obnoxious that I really disliked her. And I LOVE books with strong female main characters. I LOVE female characters that take no bs nor accept double standards.
Then there’s Caitlin Evanger, the other major female character in the book who cold-bloodedly plans a revenge murder for Kincaid, the man who raped her and permanently disfigured her. Tabby worries about Caitlin injuring herself further but there’s zero acknowledgment of her setting up Jonas Quarrel to use him in her plans. It could tear apart his life at best, or get him killed at worst, with a real possibility of jail. Again, no acknowledgment of her destroying “an innocent man”.
What’s wrong with a book where 2 out of 4 characters are likable and it’s the men, not the women?
Colacci was ok as narrator, but he didn’t add anything to the story.
was it ever considered good?
