A rogue shadow was tearing the city apart. I was the only thing standing in its way.

The streets were unraveling. Something was shredding through the city's defenses, and I was the last line before it reached everything else. The trail led somewhere I'd spent years avoiding. Back to the asylum. Back to the place I was born into darkness with no name and no past - and whatever had been waiting there for me ever since.

My magic was fraying. My will was down to a thread. And the thing living inside me, the one I'd spent years refusing to name, was done waiting to escape. Zombies clawing up from the ground. Old enemies closing ranks. A truth I'd dodged too long, coming at me from every direction.

This was the one that might not have a way out.

this is a fantastic series. Morgan Rook and his friends try to keep peace in the human world. There seems to always seems to be someone after Morgan and this time was no exception. He and his friends are chasing the ones trying to start a war with the humans and supernaturals. This book kept me on pins and needles throughout the book. This book is full of action. I definitely looking forward to the next book. The author has created a fantastic world. The narrator for these books is fantastic.I was gifted this book at my request in exchange for an honest review.

Action packed

I didn't start on book one so I feel like I'm missing out a little and I felt like the narrator is a little slow but overall good story and worth listening to.

Another great story of Morgan Rook. Much is revealed. This installment in some ways mirrors the relationship between the characters of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, in The Empire Strikes Back. In the Star Wars movie, there is the struggle between good and evil. There is the enmity between the protagonist and antagonist .Then there is the, I’m your daddy Luke confession of Darth Vader. There are similar parallels in this story.

This story is fast paced as he and his friends fight to save the humans and supernatural. Morgan must make a trip to fae to save Eraland Underwood, his boss. The organization seems to be falling apart and turning against him. His Other is becoming stronger. Romance seem to be bubbling between him and Astrid. If you have followed this story you do not want to miss this installment.
