They say going home is easy, and in all reality, it should be. Just not for me.
The small, one-horse town that gave me my roots, that made my soul thrive, is also the place I never wanted to set foot in again. I left everything behind and never looked back. Until now. With the death of the man who raised me, I’m forced to return to Boone.
Old wounds resurface, and heartache and loss trump everything once more.
Seeing the man who shattered my world the night of our high school graduation almost brings me to my knees. Jessie, my once best friend and love of my life, ruined it all for me...for us.
I’m back in Boone...and my secret is about to rattle the tiny town.

A Great Second Chance Read

In terms of the story, it was a well done second chance romance. The couple were best friends and young lovers. However, Jesse leaves to go to the major leagues leaving Jules even though she was pregnant. It was a pretty bad situation and they didn’t talk for years. I was not a fan of Jesse in the beginning and thought it would be difficult to respect him.
When Jules came back for her grandfather’s funeral, she sees Jesse again, who is home because of an injury. While they get together rather quickly given how poorly he treated her, it was heart warming how he treated his daughter. And the author did a great job showing how truly regretful he was for being such a jerk when he was younger. So it was believable, especially with a child in play (Whit is so adorable)
A bit of angst but overall, a fast and easy listen. I received a free copy from Audiobook Obsession for an unbiased review. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
