Welcome to the Dark Age of Scotland that never was.

Melcorka thought she was an ordinary young woman from the Isles. But when her homeland of Alba is attacked by an invading horde, Melcorka abandons her life of luxury and chooses the path of a warrior. With a ragtag band of companions, she heads south to unite the clans and free the land from the Norsemen's scourge and claim her destiny.

The main characters in this story have a variety of strong personalities. They combine & clash as in real life. The ending was excellent. It exemplified the bravery and determination of the characters to remain true to themselves. The narration surprised me, but as the book progressed, I loved it! As you can see, I don't believe in spoilers. Listen yourself, it's a great book!

Beautiful Story

I was thrilled that the main character has the privilege of walking through the world as free of care as just about any male hero. The narrator was great and her voice so well suited to the material.
