Publisher's summary

Paxton got the crap kicked out of him while foiling his mother’s plans. Even that isn’t enough to keep him in one place. Mother is still on the loose, after all, and there’s no telling what that evil witch is up to. With his new partner (don’t call her a sidekick!) Cassie, Paxton heads to Arizona to help an old police friend with a supernatural murder problem.

But mother isn’t content to lay low now that she’s out of jail. She’s got a brand new coven, and she wants her grimoire back. Now. Nothing will stop her from getting her spell book back, not even her son. Or the ancient stirring in its sleep in the Valley of the Sun.

Paxton’s faced witches, ghosts, and shadow demons, but can he handle an ancient god? With the lives of two young boys hanging in the balance, he can’t back down.

Daniel Humphreys continues the Paxton Locke series out in the desert, taking all the magic, intrigue, and adventure from the first book and turning it up. Listeners will love the return of old characters and the new additions as Paxton continues his supernatural road trip.

Find out if Paxton can save the day and face his mother again. Listen to Night’s Black Agents today!

Fans of Dresden files and urban fantasy will be thrilled

A great urban fantasy series. Myths magic and grit a plenty. Paxton Locke and his partner are against his mother and her coven to save life as we know it. J Scott Bennett does a phenomenal job bringing Humphreys characters to life. The writing and narration is spot on and truly brings you into the story. Again a fun spooky book but not for kids

Just like fade, it is a good book, well written, but gross at times and not for the “faint-hearted” tea time readers. There are curse words, there’re are graphic descriptions of gross things, there is gore. But if you can handle that, it is a fun engaging read and the story draws you in.

Excellent and Interesting Story

This is the second installment of the continuing story of Paxton Locke, a young man with some extraordinary magical abilities who tries to help others, while trying to foil his evil-witch mother, Helen Locke, a long the way.

The storyline is, as with Book One, very original, inventive and engaging. The characters are very well drawn and interesting. I did not want to stop listening to this installment of well drawn and fascinating world the author has created.

Summary: Helen is now on the loose with a trio of co-ed protégés and they are looking for Paxton and the book of spells that once belonged to her, wreaking havoc along the way. Meanwhile Paxton, and his fledgling love interest Cassie, are helping one of his oldest friends and mentor track down the evil behind a number of ritualistic Phoenix-based murders and the kidnapping of two young boys.

The story expertly moves between Helen, Paxton and the Division M (think Men in Black) agents point of view, building up to a satisfying ending.

The Voice Actor reading this story, J. Scott Bennet, is truly outstanding, easily inhabiting the various characters and making the story even more engaging and enjoyable.

I cannot wait for the next adventure and highly recommend this series to anyone liking fantasy-adventures - it will not disappoint.

Did it again!

For the second time in as many days I was completely enraptured in the story. The character development is good and the story details are inviting. It almost makes you feel like you can see the story playing out in front of you. I cannot wait for the third book!
