Jemima Pardon, a paramedic with a daft name and chronic asthma, has never had much in the way of good luck. The only things she attracts are traumatic jobs, and no one wants to work with her for long. But when Jem bumps into devil-may-care police officer Rosie Jones, her fortunes seem to be changing. Rosie is bright and funny, and she doesn’t mind that Jem can’t go far without her inhaler.

Things are looking up, until a suspicious death draws Jem and Rosie into an investigation that spirals beyond their control. As torrential rain floods the city, they face a battle to survive if they’re ever going to have a chance at finding love.

I was thoroughly entertained by the characters in this book. It’s a great romance with a character who’s always getting the crappy end of things and a a police officer who is there to back her up. The drama in this book is secondary to the characters’ romance but it gets resolved nicely. Definitely enjoyed this book. The narrator was clear and great about different character voices. This author never disappoints.

Great romance.

Jemima Pardon and Rosie Jones have got to be two of the sweetest, cutest, kindest characters ever written. They are also adorable, smart and witty. You can’t help but like them and then fall in love with them!

The plot of “Breathe” will keep you on your toes. It’s a wonderful, witty mystery. I loved this book the first few times I read it. I love it even more now after listening to

Good on paper, even better on audio. Nicola Victoria Vincent is marvelous! And so long as Cari Hunter keeps on writing...I’ll keep on reading her books. There’s something about her characters that makes you miss them once the book is done. Which is why I’m sure I’ll read this a third and fourth time, despite the mountain of “to-be-read” books I’ve got piling up on my various digital shelves.

Must-read

This is the fourth book by Cari Hunter that I’ve listened to, and the fourth narrated for her by Nicola Victoria Vincent. They are a wonderful combination. Cari’s writing, both the dialogue and the prose is top notch. She weaves a true STORY into every book she writes, as well as enjoyable characters, action scenes, and romances. In fact her books are so dynamic, they almost seem made to be performed on audio. And Nicola is the perfect narrator to bring it all to life.

Nicola Victoria Vincent is wonderful
