Good for all age

This audiobook is good for all age, you know this is something that we can only say for a very few books and this audiobook is one among them, just like Harry potter or the Lords of the rings, people from all ages can like the story and the big magic vs machine world that the author Jacob Israel Grey has developed through his words and is constantly evolving throughout the series, the series is entertaining while sometimes making people feel for the characters as well, the characters of Jono, Keiko and Grail are evolving out to be more entertaining as the series continues.

Science Vs Magic story

This is a story of Science vs Magic, or night vs day, it is an amazing story with an awesome imaginary world just like The Lords of the Rings, many times when listening to this audiobook I could not stop comparing it with the magic world of The Lords of the Rings, this audio book has impressed me a lot.

Not just for kids

This series continues with another great story. In fact, this one seemed to be done even faster than the first one, and I didn't have any of those small frustrations with pacing in the first book. The world feels full and rich, and characters have depth. In several ways, this book seemed to channel some elements of a certain wizard with a lightning-bolt scar on his forehead. I don't mean to imply anything negative or any suggestion this work isn't original, because it certainly feels original to me. I just mean our MC is a boy who has saved the world, but life circumstances still leaving him feeling left out, unappreciated, and bullied while still having school as the haven he remains even on holiday breaks. There's much to major characters that allow us to become emotionally invested in them. Well done.

Narration was awesome again. Absolutely no complaints. Good selection of voices and good energy/emotion in the performance. Narration definitely adds to the experience.

I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this honest review.

So much fun!

I will tell you that you cannot get enough of this story. Hands-down love every minute of it. The plots, story, action, adventure, suspense. The life of Jono and his friends is just superbly written well that it seems real life. The details, Everything. Wayne Farrell did a fantastic job (again!) in narrating the voices. He brings the characters to life in so many ways. Well done, well done!

More Great Fun

Dark & Day 2: The Withering Mark written by Jacob Israel Grey finds us in a world trying to recover from the events in book 1. Some seeds of distrust are still around, but generally, everyone is trying to get along and put their past prejudices behind them.

This book felt a little slower than the first book, at least until the action kicked up a notch. At that point, I really didn't want to stop listening. The slower opening stands to reason though, given that things have settled down towards normalcy. The world and characters which fill it are interesting, each feeling like unique personalities in the own right, which means a lot of thought has been put into them.

Jono, our hero from the first book, now has a group of good friends who are trying hard to do well at Windom Academy but are seemingly being thwarted in their attempts to succeed. The hard-won peace of the world begins to unravel with a resurgence from "the Tombs" - a secret terrorist organization known bent on causing chaos.

This was a solid sequel to the first, with plenty of action once things got moving. I'm quite glad there are more books in the series that are already ready to listen to! Narration by Wayne Farrell is on-par with his delivery in the first book, easy to listen to and immersive.

Be sure to read our Interview with Jacob Israel Grey, the author of the series for more insights into these books!

An excellent rendition of the boy becomes a hero genre. Hidden powers, friendship, romance, great characters, and an awesome narrator.
