About the Creator and Performer

With a famed and storied career that has spanned more than six decades, Dan Rather has been one of the world’s best-known journalists for much of the last half century. He has interviewed every president since Eisenhower and personally covered almost every important dateline of the last 60 years. Rather joined CBS News in 1962. He quickly rose through the ranks, and in 1981, he assumed the position of anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News—a post he held for 24 years. His reporting across the network helped to turn 60 Minutes into an institution, launched 48 Hours as an innovative news magazine program, and shaped countless specials and documentaries. Upon leaving CBS, Rather returned to the in-depth reporting he always loved, creating the Emmy Award-winning Dan Rather Reports on HDNet. Now, building upon that foundation, he is CEO of News and Guts, an independent production company he founded that specializes in high-quality non-fiction content such as The Big Interview with Dan Rather on AXS TV, now in its eight season with more than 140 episodes. After the 2016 election, Rather became known for his social media postings and currently has nearly five million followers on Facebook and Twitter.

Could not be any better!

A quick listen of Dan Rather sharing some of our top historical events during his tenure he covered. He is such a good story teller that I could listen to him for hours! Sprinkle in some humor and this was one of the best free Audible Originals ever offered!

Great story until the end

Dan Rather did a great job telling his stories with humor and grace. I had hoped it wouldn’t get political, unfortunately he did. I was seriously disappointed at the end when it seemed like he just couldn’t help himself. Very sad. Pathetic at points.

Great except the last few minutes

The stories are GREAT. He covered some VERY historic moments in his career. If it weren’t for the Donald Trump bashing in the last 10 minutes I would have given 5 stars. I understand “reporting” is by definition political, but his interpretation of the Trump administration is skewed by his liberal beliefs.
