1842. Eleanor McManus, upright daughter of a minister, is rescued from kidnappers by a rough-and-tumble fur trader Beauregard Gentry in the wilderness of northern Virginia.

With Beauregard’s help, Eleanor makes her way back to her intended groom, who declares her soiled, and she finds herself alone, pressured to make life decisions without benefit of family or others she can trust.

Beauregard and Eleanor agree to begin a life together, build their legacy, and their growing devotion to each other is witnessed one cold, crisp Christmas morning.

This novella was originally included in the anthology Christmas in America. This is a prequel to The Gentrys of Paradise series.

This is the first book in The Gentrys of Paradise, a Historical Romance, and a prequel to the series. Eleanor and Beauregard’s story is beautifully written, sweet, and heartwarming. Maury Light did a good job with the narration.

Holly Bush is a new to me author and I was granted the privilege of obtaining this gifted story to read. For a short novella, it had all the makings needed to tell the story of Beau and Eleanor. Both characters show much inner strength considering the shortfalls that life threw at them...one from childhood and the other from adulthood. Whatever obstacles, they made the best of them to forge new beginnings in both their lives..something they both needed.

Maury Light is a new to me narrator. I thought he did an excellent job on the male voices, however the female voices needed a bit more work. Overall, the story was well written and a nice comfort clean historical romance that had a nice HEA.

Very Nice Novella
