• Summary

  • Mafia Tapes dives into the legend of the notorious DeMeo Crew, and their once trusted associate Dominick Montiglio. The 8-part series tells the story of Dominick’s life, at the center of one of the most vicious mafia crews in history. With access to newly discovered audio tapes featuring Dominick, this isn’t your average mob tale. This is the real story of a man battling with the two sides of his nature: the hero and the villain; the truth teller and the con man; the lover and the fighter; the mortal and the immortal. Dominick Montiglio, in his own words, for the last time.

Crazy story

The DeMeo Crew is one of the most screwed up mafia stories I’ve ever heard — it’s basically mafia serial killers — but it hasn’t really been explored in any medium other than a book that came out a while ago. This podcast tells us that whole sordid story and also is a deep dive into the life of Dominick Montiglio, a young guy who was assigned to keep tabs on them for capo Nino Gaggi and boss Paul Castellano. Montiglio ultimately turned on his mafia family and went into witness protection. It’s an incredible story.

Real deal

I like to follow stuff about the Demeo crew since it was a brief part of my life as a young teen around the Gemini. I had no idea they were doing what’s been said but I did know Roy was a connected guy. I’m waiting for more of the episodes to come out. It’s sad Dominick died recently but I’m sure Celia and her team did a great job on this piece.

Wild Story, great podcast

What a crazy story, and not just the same old true crime stuff I’ve heard before. They really did a deep dive on this, kudos.
