  • THE BARCLAYS: A Whole New Ball Game - August and September 1992
    Sep 3 2021
BSkyB had come to save us all from the pit of despair that we called the late 1980s in football. Valley Parade, Hillsborough, Heysel, Hooliganism and Racism all cast a bad shadow on the game and the rights to the Old First Division were burning a hole in ITV's pocket. So they ceded control of the TV rights, 22 clubs broke away and formed the Premier League and English football - and football on the whole - hasn't looked back. We start our journey in the first months of the Premier League's 1992-93 season. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
