  • Raya and the Last Dragon vs. Over the Moon: Why Cultural References are Not Enough to Make a Good Story
    May 30 2021

Raya and the Last Dragon had a lot of hype surrounding its release. Being the first Southeast Asian princess, expectations were high that the story would introduce an Southeast Asian Disney princess that people in Southeast Asian countries, like Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines could relate to and see themselves through.

This episode questions if Raya did a good job of creating another Asian Disney Princess that more SE Asians could identify with or if it completely missed the mark.
