  • Terri 'Missy' Bevers
    Apr 22 2024
"I don't think she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I feel like someone was after her."

On the morning of 18 April 2016, early-rising gymgoers began to arrive at the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Texas, a suburb on the southern outskirts of Dallas. There, inside the church, they expected to find their instructor, 45-year-old Missy Bevers.

Bevers, a married mother of three, had woken up early and gotten to the church a little after 4:00 AM, well ahead of her fitness students. However, she couldn't have known that someone else had been inside that church for at least half an hour. Having donned dark police equipment from head-to-toe, this unknown subject seemingly waited for Missy to arrive...

  • Havana Syndrome
    Apr 15 2024
"None of this has a reasonable explanation. It's just mystery after mystery after mystery."

Beginning in 2016, U.S. diplomats in Cuba began to report a wide range of symptoms, everything from nausea and headaches to permanent hearing loss and brain damage. These symptoms came upon suddenly, seemingly preceded by a strange high-frequency noise. Many believed they'd been attacked, and theories would surface ranging from a sonic device to weaponized energy beams.

In the years since, some have disputed the very nature of these allegations, and others have theorized that the entire story is a widely-reported case of mass hysteria. Yet the telling of these "anomalous health incidents" has transformed from a strange medical mystery into a thrilling political whodunnit...

  • "Joseph Benson"
    Apr 1 2024
"That's when we found out our suicide victim was alive. It looks like he placed the body in the trailer to cover his disappearance."

Early on the morning of 3 February 1994, authorities responded to a fire at a campground roughly thirty miles east of Las Vegas, Nevada. There, they discovered that a trailer had been set on fire, and the trailer's occupant - a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps named Arthur Bennett - had seemingly perished in the flames.

Years later, however, an arrest in southwestern Utah would cast doubt on the original assumption, when a man named "Joseph Benson" was arrested...

A Pioneer in the Field

I followed this podcast for a long time back when it was only on YT. I've always loved it. It is creepy, well-researched and well-told and always interesting. I lost track of it for a long time and assumed he'd just given it up and didn't even think to look for it, duh. I was thrilled to stumble across it here and what's better a year or two worth of cases I haven't heard yet.

I remember loving it back in the day when true crime podcasts were just starting to explode. Michael was so free of the silliness and disrespect of so many TC podcasts. It was straightforward and factual but never boring. To me it is on the same level as Casefile but I think even better researched. He's one of the best and most long lasting in the field.

My one criticism is he does talk a bit too fast. But now I can slow it down lol so it's fine.

Love this podcast!

Great podcast with a lot of content I’d never heard before when I first started listening to true crime. Look forward to every new episode. I also feel these stories are told in an ethical and respectful manner to the victims and loved ones.

One of my favorites

I love the multi part stories, you can tell Micheal really does care about the victims in the stories he does.
