Pilgrim Heart with Krishna Das

By: Be Here Now Network
  • Summary

  • The Krishna Das Pilgrim Heart Hour features Krishna Das’ no-nonsense take on everyday struggles for finding balance on the spiritual path. Through the honesty, humility and humor of his own personal experiences, he points to the possibility of navigating life’s trials with a true inner yearning for truth. His own practice of kirtan or chant is the well stone of his ability to share from his spiritual heart. As KD says, “Love is a disease - we catch it from those who have it.”

“One has to deal with reality. The problem is that we live in such fantasy worlds and such dream worlds. So much of our daily life is occupied with getting stuff, holding onto stuff, taking care of stuff, throwing stuff away, getting more stuff. We’re so busy that we don’t get a chance just to be here.” – Krishna Das

This episode of Pilgrim Heart features chants and wisdom from Krishna Das on:

    • Siddhi Ma’s lessons on grace
    • The many manifestations of God
    • Changing fate with the Hanuman Chalisa
    • The pent up emotions and programming that influence our perception of reality
    • Jesus, Hindu deities, and how all paths lead to the One
    • The dharma of prayer and repetition of the name
    • Buddhism and the idea of practice rather than belief
    • How to be in the present and take refuge in the name of God
    • Grace as our true nature
    • Recognizing the imminence of death

“Maharaj-ji said, he would point to us, he said ‘all one’. All paths lead to the same goal, the same place. That’s what I believe. So I feel completely at ease repeating any of the names of God. I am an all-inclusive repeater. It doesn’t matter to me; I like Hanuman, but I feel very close to Jesus also. For me, it’s not a problem because I believe they are all the names of that One.” – Krishna Das

This time on Pilgrim Heart, Krishna Das divulges:

    • The different versions of The Bhagavad Gita
    • Giving our full concentration to the mantra
    • How to be in the “I am” instead of the “me”
    • Regular practice over time as the path to truth
    • Understanding through practice rather than intellectual concepts
    • Relationships and seeing where our work needs to be done
    • Love as a true and constant nature
    • Calming our minds down with chanting and meditation
    • The way we are in relationship with everything all the time

“There is nothing wrong with love. The spiritual path is nothing but love. Relationships can really show you where your work has to be done and what work you have to do. Because you will see that they’ll be times when that beautiful romantic relationship looks like and feels like shit and torture. I guarantee it. Sooner or later. It may not last, but you’re going to go through everything in the relationship if you are really in relationship and you’re being honest with yourself and the other person. Relationships are wonderful opportunities to do a lot of work on ourselves.” – Krishna Das

I really appreciate all you do.

I started my spiritual path a few years ago during a very dark time in my life full of anger and disparity. Like many people I was seeking psychedelics as a means of escape. One night coming off a trip I met Ram Dass via Gaia, who I immediately had an astonishing connection with. Unfortunately I believe he had just passed a few weeks before this moment but I felt the presence of him deep in my heart. I’m thankful this led me to yours and so many other leaders of spirituality that have helped cultivate my soul’ness as Ram Dass would have put it. Thank you for you dedication and time you put forth to help others.
