  • Summary

  • I'm a mom on a mission. My son Joshua was diagnosed with celiac disease on Jan 23, 2019, after being sick for over 2 years. A blood test and endoscopy confirmed his diagnosis. In my research, I learned that the average time to diagnosis is 6-10 years in the U.S. We started a podcast This Crazy Celiac Life to help spread the word about CD and to support people with Celiac Disease and NCGS. • Have you ever been glutened so badly, that you were still sick 8 weeks later? Josh did last September. What are we doing about it?
    Dec 7 2020

Sometimes getting glutened means you are sick for months, just ask Joshua our 12-year-old. We had to put him on prescriptions for pain, have an ultrasound done, and are in the process of doing an elimination diet so he can take a SIBO test.  SIBO stands for Small bowl Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth.  Bacteria that normally grow in other parts of the gut start growing in the small intestine. Someone who has SIBO experiences these symptoms *Loss of appetite * Nausea *Abdominal pain *Diarrhea * Bloating.  Diagnosis is made using an at-home breath test that is sent back to the lab for evaluation. Treatments include a course of antibiotics, cutting out sugar and processed foods, and taking probiotics. Have you had a SIBO test?  How did you resolve SIBO?  Listen in to find out what we're doing.   rachelle@thiscrazyceliaclife.com  anchor.fm/tccl/message

  • Today, we're talking to Dr. Tang. What are your chances for a false negative blood test for Celiac Disease? Also, Gluten Sensitivity is the center of the wheel.
    Nov 24 2020

Blood tests for celiac disease only test for 1 or 2 antigens, but the body can produce over 70 different antigens for Celiac Disease. Also, think of gluten sensitivity as a wheel with spokes coming off it like acne, PMS, Celiac disease, diabetes, gallstones, non-alcoholic liver disease, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Please leave us a review at Apple Podcasts. Dr. Tang may be reached at wwwrejuvemedical.com. Thanks for listening and have a gluten-free day!
