Story
Good background noise on the drive home
So first thing out of the gate, getting this out in the open, not really a Jim Cornette fan. Not big on the kool-aide served at the Cult of Cornette parties. It tends be be....salty? Yeah, I'd say salty. With that said, once you get past the tired refrains of "da business" and complaints about the curtain call, this is a decent podcast. It has the bones to be a good one.
Drew knows his wrestling (and opinions I disagree with aside) argues his opinions in an understandable manner. Arnold seems to take a backseat from time to time, then just agree with Drew on a point, which I think he needs to come out of his shell a bit, spread his wings and fly.
It is a newer podcast and with them trying to stay family friendly to avoid edits, there are a few bumps here or there. I get not wanting to edit, It's not easy and it is time consuming. The flipside of that coin is that the show seems to follow a loose format but not a script, and when that happens, unless you are an absolute master of keeping conversation flowing without needing to think things out, you end up with a very notice-able amount of dead air.
These guys have room for improvement but that is a plus because it is already a decent show. I think when they get more of a stride and natural feeling to doing this, it can be an excellent show. Hopefully along the way Drew can kick the habit of beating a dead horse, saying he isn't going to beat a dead horse, and then kick it a few more times on the way to the next subject.
I also wouldn't mind him losing the "if everything then nothing" mantra. Yes in some instances it makes sense, but not in all, and it's beginning to reach eyeroll territory.
Enough beating up on Drew, I actually like the guy and am not trying to "bury" him in any way. I just think he could go from B+ player to main event.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
