  • The Easter Sunday Massacre
    Mar 26 2024

There was nothing unusual about that Easter Sunday in 1975.

“How’s your Volkswagen, Jimmie?” Leonard asked him.

James didn’t speak. He answered the question by shooting his brother, setting off a spiral of violence and rage that ended as the deadliest shooting spree to ever occur in a private home in America’s bloody history.

One that left a grim and troubling haunting behind.

  • Memories Of The Old Slave House
    Mar 12 2024

On a windy hill near the small Southern Illinois town of Equality is a decaying mansion that was known for decades as the region’s most haunted house. It was a place dubbed Hickory Hill by its builder and over the years, it’s been many things – a plantation house, farmhouse, a tourist attraction, and many believe, a chamber of horrors for men and women brought to this house in chains. Thanks to the long-standing legend of the terrible things that occurred in the house, locals eventually began referring to it as “The Old Slave House.”

  • Murder At Corpsewood Manor
    Feb 27 2024

Hidden away in the deep, dark woods of the Chattahoochee National Forest was once an isolated mansion that was the object of terror to most of the people who lived in the small town of Summerville, Georgia.

A terror that lingers to this day.

It was on the chilly night of December 12 that year that a secluded house became a place of torture and bloodshed.

The name of the house – Corpsewood Manor – seems like something right out of a horror novel, but on that dark night, the terror was unbelievably real.

New to this podcast

So I’ve known about Alton haunting a for a long time and I first heard of Troy Taylor years ago. Well I just got on a kick of listening to audio books while driving and then I found this podcast! I have went back and started all the way from the beginning just because the history of Alton is interesting to me. Basically because my dad lived there for a time when he was a kid/ teenager and I still have family that lives in Godfrey. I have always wanted to come and go on a ghost tour or do one of the many events that are offered there. I absolutely love this podcast!!!! And hearing some of the stories makes me have a lot of questions for my dad, who is not a believer at all. So thank for all the history lessons and the stories!!!!

Not bad!

For those interested in folk lore, the paranormal/supernatural, general history, good yarns and good, old-fashioned horse's assery and dipshittery, this might just be the podcast for you! So, get yourself some pretzels and your best, nice cold, 120 year old vintage bottle of Lemp beer, and sit down for a while and take a listen ; and marvel at the fact that we live in a country where two morons living way too close to the Mason-Dixon and I70 line can make it in podcasting! It brings an inspirational tear to your eye and a lump in your throat to think about it....

One of my very favorite podcasts

I love ghost stories and I love true crime and I feel like this is the perfect mix of both. The history behind the hauntings is great and I love that so much research has gone into it. You both are great and make me laugh.

Pro's and Con's

Pro's:
The Stories are well developed and researched. Narration of story is very good. His voice pleasant and the inflection and pace was dead on for me with the story part of the podcast. You can tell a lot of time and effort was put into recording a quality podcast.

Con's:
What's with the constant banjo/guitar picking???? By the 4th story the musical accompaniments were all I could hear. It felt a little to 'Deliverance' for my taste.
The post commentary tended to be more sales pitches for various ticket, books and events than discussion of story.

Lucky to find American Hauntings

My brother Kaleb told me about this podcast about a year ago. He recently went to your conference and came back with lots of fun stories. I’m so glad he got to meet you guys. For reference, I am 18 years older than him so I’ve gotten the rare opportunity to watch my brother grow up. This is the first time I’ve seen him so excited about anything. He is studying paranormal and acquiring Equipment to start ghost hunting. He would probably say that I’m describing it wrong. Lol. But he brought me a troy book as a souvenir and I’m excited to read it. I’ve loved your podcast and have learned to accept troys interruptions of Cody. Maybe I will get to go with him next time. Thanks again!

Fun, informative, and entertaining.

Troy and Cody make this podcast enjoyable to listen to. Troy has a great voice for story telling that keeps me engaged whether I'm driving to work or doing chores around the house. Cody gives good feedback and asks the real questions at the end. This podcast has the before and after "show" all in one episode. I love it.

Makes for a good distraction

It's a lot of fun to listen to while I'm working. I only wish that I could listen to it for the whole shift.
