    Happy New Year and welcome to the first show of 2024 - #608!

    This week's show features music by the bands who were nominated for the 2023 Rock Band of the Year award at the 8th annual Mid-MO Rock Awards at the Blue Note in Columbia MO. Thanks to the Blue Note for hosting the event and thanks to JPS Productions for putting it all together! Oh, and thanks to Shea and Preston of The Many Colored Death for emceeing the whole thing!!!

    And the nominees are: Last American Cowboy (winner of Rock Band of the Year and Single of the Year) - In Search of a Legend - Hang Your Hate - Conman Economy - Dark Below - My Twins

    We've also got music by Bootsy's Band, and winner of the 2023 Live Band of the Year, The Many Colored Death. Nick's Pic is by Johnny Winter and Something Completely Different is by RUSH.

    Intro is by Eagles and Exit is by Todd Snider.

    And no show would be complete without a tune by Nick Thomas!

    We hope Santa was good to you in 2023 and you were able to spend time with family and friends during the holiday season! Bootsy decided to look to somebody else to choose the playlist for Show #607. She turned to The Columbia Tribune's Aarik Danielson, features & culture editor. He chose the 10 records that helped define Missouri music in 2023. Bootsy listened to everything he selected then chose the ones that she liked best! You'l hear tunes from albums released in 2023 by:
