  • ADOH RADIO PRESENTS EPISODE 153: “NATIONAL BLOOD CLOT” FEAT. LESLIE & STEPHANIE
    Mar 20 2024

Our Guest Live - 3/20/2024. This episode will feature inspirational music, positive inspirations, and the wonderful people from the National Blood Clot Alliance in honor of National Blood Clot month.

We are excited to have Leslie Lake, a blood clot survivor and the president of the National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA), along with Stephanie Martinez, also a blood clot survivor, share their stories. Did you know that in the United States, 100,000 people die from blood clots annually, and 70% of these deaths could have been prevented? Surprisingly, blood clots claim more lives than HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and motor vehicle accidents combined, surpassing even opioid overdoses. Despite these statistics, the blood clot community lacks federal funding. Each year, 900,000 Americans receive a blood clot diagnosis, with many facing long-term health complications as survivors. Shockingly, studies reveal that less than 10% of Americans can recognize the signs and symptoms of a blood clot. In March, the NBCA will be in Washington DC advocating for funding for The National Blood Clot Education and Awareness Program. This initiative aims to enhance public and healthcare provider awareness about blood clots. It marks the first-ever proposed federal bill addressing this pressing public health issue. Blood clots can affect anyone and do not discriminate. On behalf of the National Blood Clot Alliance, we appreciate the opportunity to bring attention to this crucial matter. Join us as we engage in conversation with these remarkable guests.
