  • #766 What Is Nitric Oxide? - 6 Ways To Repair The Body & Reduce Inflammation - Ben Azadi
    Mar 27 2024
88%+ are deficient in this single molecule which helps with neurotransmitters, cardiovascular health, lowering inflammation, metabolism, erections / sexual function, energy and MANY more important functions inside the human body. This molecule is gas called nitric oxide. Nitric oxide (NO) is a molecule that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes in the human body, including inflammation. It is a gaseous signaling molecule that acts as a vasodilator, meaning it helps to relax and widen blood vessels. When the blood vessels widen it allows oxygen and nutrients to EVERY cell inside the body. Nitric oxide is produced by various cells, including endothelial cells (cells lining blood vessels), immune system (macrophages), and brain cells (neurons). Controls mitochondria and telomeres. It helps your body recover from injury and workouts. It’s been called the holy grail of anti-aging medicine. Nitric oxide can also have anti-inflammatory effects. It can modulate the immune response by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. Additionally, nitric oxide can regulate the activity of immune cells, such as T cells and neutrophils, to prevent excessive inflammation and tissue damage. In 1992 the journal of science called it the molecule of the year It’s how cells communicate with each other. Imagine if you are trying to call your best friend to warn them about an intruder coming to their house, but your communication lines have been cut. Things will go wrong! The most common symptoms of nitric oxide deficiency include High blood pressure Erectile dysfunction Cardiovascular disease Alzeihmers Dementia Insulin resistance Type 2 diabetes Weight Gain Why are so many people nitric oxide deficient? Let’s get into the top 6 causes of low nitric oxide levels and the solutions for each… Antiseptic Mouthwash (Scope, Listerine, etc) and Fluoride toothpaste - Dr Nathan Bryan has published research showing when you use mouthwash it kills the oral microbiome that responsible for making nitric oxide, your blood pressure goes up and you develop erectile dysfunction. This dramatic decrease in NO levels happens within days of using mouthwash. Swap to essential oils. My go to toothpaste is Revitin (see link below), and my go to mouthwash is from Doterra (link below) A diet high in carbohydrates will raise high blood sugar levels leading to glycation of nitric oxide synthase enzyme - A better diet would be low carb, keto and fasting. The 10 best foods for nitric oxide are …. Leafy greens: Vegetables like spinach, kale, arugula, and Swiss chard are high in nitrates, which are converted into nitric oxide in the body. These greens also contain other beneficial nutrients like vitamins C and K, which support overall vascular health. Beets: Beets and beetroot juice are well-known for their high nitrate content. Consuming beets can help increase nitric oxide production and improve blood flow, potentially enhancing exercise performance and cardiovascular health. Garlic: Garlic contains allicin, a compound that can stimulate nitric oxide production and help relax blood vessels. Incorporating garlic into your diet, whether raw or cooked, can be beneficial for cardiovascular health. Citrus fruits: Fruits like oranges, lemons, and grapefruits are rich in vitamin C, which is a cofactor for the enzyme that produces nitric oxide. Including citrus fruits in your diet can support nitric oxide synthesis and promote vascular health. Pomegranate: Pomegranates are packed with antioxidants, including polyphenols, which have been shown to enhance nitric oxide production and improve endothelial function. Nuts and seeds: Almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, and chia seeds are good sources of arginine, an amino acid that serves as a precursor to nitric oxide synthesis. These foods can help boost nitric oxide levels in the body. Dark chocolate: High-quality dark chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70% or more contains flavonoids that promote nitric oxide production and improve blood flow. Enjoying moderate amounts of dark chocolate can have cardiovascular benefits. Watermelon: Watermelon is rich in citrulline, an amino acid that converts to arginine in the body, thus supporting nitric oxide production and vascular health. Fish: Fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and trout are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory properties and can improve endothelial function, indirectly supporting nitric oxide production. Green tea: Green tea contains catechins, polyphenolic compounds that have been shown to enhance nitric oxide production and improve vascular function. Proton pump inhibitors Antacids - in 2015 studies showed that people on PPI’s for 3-5 years have a 35% higher incidence in heart attack or strokes because of what it does to shut down nitric oxide. They are extremely dangerous long term. If you are dealing with heartburn, most of the time...

A Critical Analysis of Disease Statistics and Nutritional Misconceptions Ben discusses various alarming statistics related to health, including cancer rates, diabetes prevalence, and the projected increase in autism spectrum disorder diagnoses. He highlights heart disease as the leading cause of death in the United States, emphasizing the frequency of fatalities attributed to it. Despite questionable research methods and flawed conclusions, Ben dives into the history of Ancel Keys, a pivotal figure in shaping the belief that fats cause heart disease. Also, Ben challenges the conventional wisdom linking cholesterol to heart attacks, arguing that cholesterol plays a crucial role in the body's functions. He cites Dr. Philip Ovadia, a heart surgeon, who asserts that damage to blood vessels is the sole cause of heart disease. Overall, Ben advocates for reevaluating commonly held beliefs about nutrition and health. Empowering Health: Insulin Sensitivity and Self-Healing Ben emphasizes the critical importance of insulin sensitivity, highlighting it as the initial factor preceding the onset of various diseases. He urges individuals to prioritize testing their fasting insulin levels, aiming for single-digit readings to indicate sensitivity. Ben warns against the dangers of insulin resistance, which can develop over 14 years before diabetes diagnosis. He challenges the traditional approach to managing health conditions, particularly regarding cholesterol, citing the profitability of the statin industry despite evidence suggesting that normal to low cholesterol levels can still lead to heart attacks. Ben advocates for empowering individuals and communities to take control of their health, emphasizing the body's innate ability to self-heal. Purpose, Ketosis, and Metabolic Transformation Ben highlights the correlation between Monday mornings and a higher incidence of heart attacks, attributing this phenomenon to the stress and lack of purpose that many people experience in their daily lives. He emphasizes the importance of living purposefully as a significant biohack for overall health. Ben discusses the protective effects of ketosis on the heart, dispelling misconceptions about keto diets and heart health. He explains how ketones signal mitochondrial reproduction and influence various cellular processes beyond cardiac energetics. Ben presents alarming statistics on the metabolic health of Americans, indicating a high prevalence of metabolic inflexibility and obesity. He shares his journey of overcoming obesity and depression through lifestyle changes, emphasizing the potential for anyone to transform their health with dedication and responsibility. Insights on Metabolic Dysfunction and Disease Prevention Ben discusses the root causes of metabolic dysfunction and disease, starting with toxins. He highlights the pervasive presence of environmental toxins, citing alarming statistics about newborns' exposure to toxic chemicals. Ben emphasizes the importance of avoiding plastic consumption and thermal receipts containing BPA. He challenges the conventional belief that obesity is ...

[04:09] Metabolic Flexibility and Macronutrients Carbohydrates and fats are two of the four major fuels for the body and are often referred to as macronutrients. Many people struggle to process and burn carbs and fats efficiently, frequently favoring one fuel source over another. Metabolic inflexibility refers to the body's inability to process both carbs and fats effectively, whereas metabolic flexibility refers to the body's ability to burn both carbs and fats efficiently. The Met Flex Diet is a six-week program that teaches the body how to effectively burn both fuels by exposing it to carbs and fats and incorporating keto and carb-loading elements. According to scientific evidence, cyclical keto cycling (alternating between periods of ketosis and carbohydrate consumption) can help improve metabolic flexibility. [08:07] Intermittent Fasting: Achieving Metabolic Flexibility Intermittent fasting helps to shift the body into fat-burning mode. Fasting depletes the body of energy from food and glycogen, allowing it to use stored fat as an energy source. By depleting energy from food and glycogen, intermittent fasting attempts to use stored fat as an energy source. A simple approach for beginners or those new to fasting is to wait a few hours after waking up before eating the day's first meal. Sleeping is a form of fasting because no food is consumed during that time. Extending the fasting period after waking up allows for more fat-burning time. [15:04] How do Fasted Cardio Workouts Enhance Fat Burning Fasted cardio involves working out on an empty stomach, usually without eating before the workout and for about an hour afterwards. Fasted cardio may not be appropriate for everyone, so pay attention to your body's signals and adjust accordingly. With depleted stored glucose (glycogen) and no food energy available during a fast, the body relies on fats for energy during the workout. The energy demand during exercise is significantly increased, prompting the body to draw even more energy from fat stores to meet the increased energy requirements. [18:51] Balancing Sleep and Workouts for Fat Loss Sleep is ...

The Best

Dr. Yosi was incredible to listen to. His knowledge blew me away. My body took a big hit in 2022 from Covid. I was compromised dramatically. After listening to this episode i immediately ordered methelyne blue and a Red Light. I'm in my mid 60's so i had minimal faith that i would ever recover. This protocol gives me hope. Thank you Ben for bringing this knowledge into my world. And deep gratitude to Dr. Yoshi for the work he is doing! I've cared for an ALS patient in the past. Its a fierce disease. To extend life as well as quality of life is truly a miracle with ALS. Elena Romero

This makes sense!

Thank you for this interview! So many people need to hear this information. When people find out I don't eat vegetables, the first general thing they tell me is that I'm not going to get enough vitamins and my health is going to suffer. I don't even tell anybody anymore because, for some reason, everybody wants to argue with me about it (even though my health has improved exponentially). Lately, I just move vegetables around on my plate and hope they don't say anything to me because I have a hard time explaining the science of it to people with no medical background. This information is plain, clear, and concise, I feel like I can share this and help people understand. Thanks again! :)
